    Dithers For My Convicts?

I love sevs! But I thought they would be too gentle to live with the cons? I wouldn't mind a JD either but would it get along with silver dollars? A JD with the cons sounds kinda like a blood bath waiting to happen...course anything with the cons sounds like a bloodbath.

    Dithers For My Convicts?

So then could I just get rid of the firemouth, have the 2 cons, 4 silver dollars, 1 bichir....is there any other cichlid I could put in there who wouldn't get destroyed? It's just that tank would be a little devoid of color...every single one of those fish is grey.

    Weird Stomach On Betta

My boy spooky lives in a 5 gal with 2 white cloud minnows and a ADF. He's an awesome little fish, favorite betta I've ever had. But over time (got him at the end of last summer), his stomach seems to be growing out to the sides. It almost looks like he has a tumor on either side of him, one...

    Convicts

My baby convicts (<1 inch) killed my full grown angels in a matter of weeks! Don't do it! I don't know about females, but male convicts ARE that aggressive, whether they're breeding or not!

    Fish Tank Setup

I'm a huge loach fan  I think probably my favorite is the weather/dojo loach, that's a great choice! But mine was torn up really badly by my cons before I moved him into my mom's tropical community tank. The cat digs that fish. But my yoyo loach gets along fine even with a convict...

    Dithers For My Convicts?

So I have a sorta new idea...could I put a senegal bichir in there? I could replace the firemputh with one...I'd rather have both but if the bichir stands a better chance of surviving that'd be nice. So that would be a 55 gal tank... 2 male convicts 1 senegal bichir 1 firemouth 4 silver...

    Dithers For My Convicts?

They are not a pair of convicts, the are 2 males. And yeah, I'm talking a 55 at this point, I wouldn't do any smaller with 2 male cons.

How many silver dollars could I fit in there with the 2 convicts and the firemouth?

    Dithers For My Convicts?

oh sorry I meant 20 gal for everything. Wouldn't dilver dollars get too large for a 55?

    Dithers For My Convicts?

My boys like to kill EVERYTHING. I have 2 adult convicts, males, who live in seperate 10 gal tanks. I have 8 convict fry in one of their tanks, becxause you used to have a lady friend before he decided he "didn't want her around anymore". I'll be getting rid of the fry, although I don't...

    Convict Cichlids

I'm sure this won't work with all convicts, and I'm suprised it does with mine, but I have a 20 long with one full grown male convict and a yoyo loach and a kuhli loach. The kuhli isn't that interesting to me since the tank is soo full of hiding places that I didn't even know he was still there...

    Tired Of Baby Convicts

I was pretty against getting a female convict for my lone male, but my roommate said she'd love for us to have baby fish and I definently wanted more than one fish who refused to come out from behind his rocks. So I got a female. Now, a couple of months later, I still have my first batch of...

    Suggestions for classroom tank

Actually male bettas can get along pretty well with other fish, as long as the fish aren't too flashy. Here're the setups I'd suggest- 10/15 gal- 1 betta 6 glolite tetras or white cloud minnows either 2 otos or an apple snail 15 gal- 1 fancy goldfish...

    bad fish day

oOoo today is an expensive day in my fish tank world. I was laready planning on completely overhauling everything in 2 of my tanks but the fish, which left 4 fine (one of those 4 doesn't even have anything in it, lol). So I started on my 20 gal with one convict, took everything out and...

    oranda questions

My poor goldie :( I just figured out today that my mum unplugged his filter because it shorted and almost started a fire...wish she had told me. For some reason it just didn't occur to me that the filter wasn't working. So now I have to go find him a new filter, or at least new tubing for...

    oranda questions

I've had my little oranda goldfish, bryce  , for about 1.5 months now. I bought him with a moor, but the mor passed away quite a while ago. I basically cycled using a lot of gravel and filter media from one of my other tanks. Bryce is doing very well, and is making me wonder why I've...

    can't get rid of algae

this is not my normal algae. I have 1 foot long common pleco (I know, I know) and 2 otos who have been living in this tank for over a year and the algae has been there the entire time. I can't get it off with my magnetic algae sponge or my normal one, I can get a tiny bit with my nails but...

    convict tank

Yeah both of my guys are only about 4" and I've had them for probably a year and a half. My REALLY aggressive one tolerates my loaches, but they have tons of hiding places. I think sand is really hard to keep up maintenence wise...but I guess I can stick with it. Maybe I'll just take an...

    convict tank

I've had 2 20 gallon tanks with a convict in each for a while. Tey're not exactly "pretty" tanks since they're in my basement and I prefered to concentrate on my ram's tank upstairs. Course that's not gorgeous either because I can't seem to get this algae off at all and it's REALLY...

OMG, this is so much better :)

Thank you :) I love coors, he's my little dude  (well, all my fish are my little dudes I guess). I'd never seen his colour in a betta before, so I had to have him. He's enjoying his new tank so much :)

    My ram

Yeah, the little dude was posing last night, but my digicams so bad I STILL only got one good pic out of like 20  So here he is...my little pride and joy-

OMG, this is so much better :)

Bud flares at my 9" common pleco, but never does anything about it...can't blame him, that's one tough pleco. He fights back and could swallow bud in one bite. He gets along well with all the others, though. He's overshadowing my ram, though, since he's big and flowy and gorgeous. It's...

OMG, this is so much better :)

Last week I moved my bettas (Bud and Coors) out of their typical betta "containers", and into actual tanks. Coors moved into his very own 6 gal tank complete with sand substrate and sandstone, and Bud moved into my 20 gal for a while, and this weekend moved into my 29 gal ram tank. They are...

    ram buddies

I know I say this all the time, but I strongly believe 15 gal is the minimum size for a pair of rams. Even then, I don't think it'd be large enough to house tetras as well. If you want both rams and tetras, go with a 20 gal (possibly long?), with tetras such as neons, cardinals, or glowlights...

    Ramirez' Dwarf Cichlid

    pH for rams...

My rams are in a pH of 7.2. It's wonderful for mine, and rams can adapt pretty well to "higher" pHs in the low to mid 7s. Of course they'll be a little happier in the 6.0-7.0 if they're not acclimated. Not saying rams aren't fragile or anything, which of course they are, but they can be fine...

    Suggest a suitable Cichlid Species?

That isn't exactly what I'd call a high pH. It'll be fine for the rams, if you get them. However, I'd suggest not getting a breeding pair of rams. Mine got along fine with the angels it was a breeding pair), but my female was killed by a horrible mistake. The male still got along perfectly...

Just got a juvi male ram

I think personally I'd go back and get another male and see if she pairs off with one of them. Who knows, maybe she just doesn't find the new one attractive. Try to find the biggest male you can.

    A few more snaps

My farlowella's name is twiggy too, lol. They're great little fish :) Mine is the only guy who can survive in one of the convict tanks. I love all your plecos, they're fabulous! And I thought I was getting more exotic with a veiltail albino bristlenose, lol. Wonderful fish, keep on...
