    I think 20 gal 78 litres? rocks in tank- came with the tank and was previously in a tank with very healthy fish. I cleaned it thoroughly before adding. I committed the newbiue sin and added fish without cycling. I have plants - floating and rooted at all levels of tank.

    Thanks for the replies. The light does not flicker and his response is definitely invoulantary. Wherever he is the fit is almost instant. i dont think hiding would help he is also quite big - bout 7-9cm not much place for him to hide. Perhaps she should get him his own tank.
