    Tetras With Fungi :(

People do keep fish in conditions which arnt ideal and get away with it although the day may come when the puffer does start his aggressive streak. LFS do give bad advice, check out "#112###" for better information. The way in which we keep our fish is ultimately decided by ourselves, we...

    Panting Clown Loach! :(

Clown loaches are very sensitive to meds as are most scaleless fish. Meds are usually halved when dosing. WAter changes are the way to go with carbon to remove the meds. Lots of acceleration as stated above, to break the surface. Also as stated warmer water means less oxygen which is also true...

    Stocking Suggestions Please

the bristlenoses are a great choice. they breed readily and would be compatible with neons. Cherry barbs would also be good tank mates, a schooling fish which would add a splash of colour. Mollys prefer a higher PH about 7.5 and do survive in FW but live longer and thrive in Brackish. I would...

    Tetras With Fungi :(

This (without seeing pictures) sounds like a bacteria infection. This is down to poor environment, but i suspect.... the cute little Puffer. These are not community fish dispite what you may have read/heard. This fish fairs better alone and may be nipping at your fish. The area gets infected...

    Poor Panda Cory Needs Help

Agree with the above. Without stats very hard to help/diagnose. Also (nothing to do with the current problem but) corydoras need to be kept in schools, preferably 6 or more. In my experience, this is more so with Pandas due to their small size and skittery nature.

    Dying Fish

Well done with the nitrates, regardless of the varied opinions I'm sure everyone agrees the lower the better. Fin rot is not contagious so don't worry about your other fish becoming infected. Keep up with maintenance and you'll be fine

    Cloudy Water, Not Sure Why!

Agreed. Keep up water changes and be patient. It will clear

    Dying Fish

Beard algae is one of the worse algae to get rid of. I dont think water changes will get rid of it. Beard algae is introduced to the tank via plants or fish and does not just develope. If you have this on plants then remove the infected leaves. If on any decor then remove and sock in a bleach...

    Platy Death And Guppy Sick

You really need to test the water. I suspect this may be the issue. If this is check out to be ok, then internal Parasite are a possibility. Beaware though that fancy guppies which are commonly found in LFS are often a result of poor breeding and a lot do not fair well. This is quite common.

    Seimese Fighter

Bettas dont really need a large tanks but do appreciate it. Yours should be ok in this as long as water changes are performed reguarly. If you have missed one or two this may be the issue. Also make sure you match the fresh water to the tank water i.e PH and always de-chlorinate or preferably...

    Dying Fish

Nitrate in aquariums is generally bad for fish. Although there are few exceptions. Nitrate stunts the growth of fish, promotes algae growth and induces stress. Although i agree there isn't a hard set number for danger, a conscious fishkeeper will aim for as low as possible with most agreeing...

    Dying Fish

Maracyn is what i would recommend although other brands will probably suffice. As for stocking, i would also remove the gourami as these fish grow quite large and also can be bullys towards smaller fish, which inturn causes stress and sick fish. If you would like a plec, then bristlenose plecs...

Good luck my friend. It is worth it in the end

    Dying Fish

If you do a 50% water change the NitrAtes reduce by 50%. Unfortunatley the filter media may be harbouring fish waste/rotting food etc. I would clean this (with water from the aquarium)as well. Also vacuuming the gravel will help remove sources for the nitrAte. Once this is done, keep up with...

Couple Of Simple Questions I Think

A fully cucled filter Pad will speed up the cycling process but not cycle a tank fully. NitrIte should be zero and anything other than zero causes problems and will eventually kill. For Bettas the PH is fine. I would start with water changes and get the NitrIte down to zero and NitrAte under 10.

    Dying Fish

Hi there. Your tank is seriously overstock. The plec, if a common one needs a larger tank than this by its self. Your Nitrates are also too high (should be less than 20). This an environmental issue. Do some large water changes with de-chlorinated water, same temp and PH. I would also treat...

If your Betta is usually lively and now he has suddenly changed his behavior then this may be down to envirnoment. What are you water parameters?

    Looking For Something New

This is quite small for a first marine tank. As a general rule, the bigger the better. This is due to stability of your tank. With small tanks changes occur quite frequently and with corals this is a no no. That being said, it can be done as long as you are strict with your water changes and...

Couple Of Simple Questions I Think

Hi there. The tank size is fine for 6 guppies (hopefully atleast a 2:1 female ratio) although using "filter sponge" from another tank does not mean the tank is cycled and ready for fish. I would keep an eye on Ammonia levels and large regular water changes will be needed early on. i agree with...
