Also tried the 'kill on site' policy, but they keep coming back. Feeding three times a day, I'll cut that back to two. Blooming things! 

Can anyone advise me on some suitable fish. I have an infestation of small snails, literally hundreds. I've tried the cucumber trick, which keeps them in check, but doesn't look nice. I've read you can get some snail eating fish, but don't know if they would effect my current stock.

Posting again, cos I need to restock my tank. Some of my fish have passed away and I now have: 7 x neon, 4 x Pristella Tetras, 5 x Harlequins & 3 x Corydoras. As before I would like to add some more 'showy' fish, Black Mollies? Or should I just restock what I have?  

Or perhaps Dwarf gourami?

Okay I'll try and get some photos up in a few days’ time. Set up is pretty good; it's been cycled nearly two years now. I do my chemical/ph/ammonia checks regularly and all okay. Do suffer with algae and green water though? Only have my lights on for 7-8 hours a day & tank not near a window.

Thanks OldMan47, there's a lot in your reply to digest. So I'll take on you advice and others, to stop using the RO or certainly phase it out. I'll report back in a few weeks to see how I'm (or the fish more like) fairing.
