If a Betta goes into a tank on it's own as they don't need filter does the tank need to go through the cycling process or do you just need to carry out frequent water changes for the betta?

This may seem like a stupid question but how hot/cold does 24 degrees feel to touch? I've had my tank cycling for the last 24 hours and the water feels cold to touch, the heater is working but I always imagined the water would feel warmer than it is.

Thanks for all the info. I'd actually read that thread before I posted here. Have started the cycling process without fish and just got my tank to the right ammonia levels to get it all kicked off. Fingers crossed it goes ok.

Yeah, I did see the list but it looks a bit out of date. Just set my tank up and will start the cycling shortly with some ammonia. Was hoping to have some established media but never mind.
