    Dwarf Gourami Death

Thanks for the break down, I must be riding my luck looking at your list. I don’t have common plecs, I know how large they grow + they poo for England (I know someone who keeps one in a 90l tank...). I will add (in my defence) I inherited most of these fish when I bought the tank and would...

    Dwarf Gourami Death

I have had no other problems at all or have been advised of any potential issues regarding my set-up, they all seem pretty chilled. My dollars are full size, they are massive but don’t seem to cause any problems. The sharks are only little, they don’t seem to grow too quickly, I hardly notice...

    Dwarf Gourami Death

I have asked many times regarding water changes on this forum have been advised that is an adequate amount. I will have to provide those details later when I have more time but my signature has my stock and tank size etc. Just seems odd that I have not changed anything so would not have expected...

    Dwarf Gourami Death

Thanks for your reply. I 25% water change every 10 days and only completed my last 4 days ago so cant see how this may have caused it as I have been consistant? Is it curable?

    Dwarf Gourami Death

My 2 Dwarf Gourami (6 months old) have developed what can only be described as a blister with a red sore in the middle on the left side of the body between the eye and fin. One perished last night after it kept falling to the bottom and trying to swim back to the surface. The other seems very...

    Holiday

Thanks to you both, hopefully everything will be ok. Good idea measuring the food out. I will enjoy holiday and try not to worry. :good:

    Holiday

Thanks for that. I will do a water change and clean the filter this eve so should be all set for them. The volunteer is learning the ropes later so I will show them how much food to put in – good point btw. Hopefully they will be fine, I will still be thinking of them while I’m away though.

    Holiday

I’m about to go on holiday for a week, is there anything I should bear in mind as I will be leaving the fish for that long? (they are getting fed once or twice during this time). The lights are on a timer but I’m concerned that the tank may get too hot if the weather is warm. Should I leave the...

    Moonlight Dying

Only had him for 2 months, I did buy a pair but the other one recently mysteriously disappeared so I'm guessing its related. I hope I've done everything I can. Thank you for your kind words, it does make me feel a bit better :good:

    Moonlight Dying

I shall add some cover for him. There not a lot else I can say to describe the fishes predicament really. There are no signs of infection or anything to suggest he was assaulted. Not very nice seeing this, really liked him :-(

Water fine all other fish fine - any ideas what may have happened or what I can do to save him? Sadly my second tank is not up and running yet so he is in...

    No Regrets

    No Regrets

Thanks guys. I like the idea of sloping the sand, I would not think of doing that for visual/practical reasons. I’m placing the tank on top of a chest of draws in the bedroom so will ensure it’s nearer to the front and I should be able to get to the back. I think it would still be way too...

    No Regrets

Right, I’m about to set-up my Fluvial 125L for the first time. With regards to layout and general newbie errors, are there any do’s or don’ts I should consider to avoid making a hash of it or regret something later on? Your advice is much appreciated.

Has anyone had experience of ASDA play sand? Is it on par with the much revered Argos version? Thinking of picking some up with my shop tonight out of convenience. Thanks

    Cleaning Inside Of Tank

Thanks for the reply and the useful information. I had no idea about bio film and making it mature. I only decided to clean it as it was starting to look a bit blurry though the glass. Wont the Algae magnets remove the bio film though? On the subject, are there any ways to repair minor...

    Cleaning Inside Of Tank

What is the best way to clean the inside of a tank? I feel very nervous of using those magnetic cleaners in case I scratch the glass by trapping dirt between the magnets. I did use a scouring sponge (cheap thing from ASDA – 10 for 20p), there is no metal on it so thought that might be safe...

    Quantity Of Sand?

That’s good going, guess that’s significantly reduced the amount of particles too using silica. I’m sure your Cory’s will be very happy in there! I do indeed have some floss so will add that too. A good idea leaving it overnight to clear.
