yes i have put the join about 2' away from the pump, the check valves seem to be working fine still and i dont think i should get the diaphragms fighting eachother as they seem to pump at opposites if you get what i mean cheers

hi there, just a warning i had a pictus catfish in with my oscars and got very big very quick, roughly about 12" in 8 months, if these are the same catfish as you are talking about(Leiarius pictus). i found that when i put the catfish in the tank he was about 4" and had pleny of hiding spots...

i will use the carbon untill the bag starts to disintigrate then add a stage of the media i have left over from my last filter! or may just replace it if i fell it makes a great difference.
