I never got an Ammoina reading from my Tetra test during cycling. But i did get a Nitrite spike. if i understand this process you may miss the Ammoina as it can dissipate within a couple of hours, Nitrite takes much longer?

Try building your own. At least you can get what you want. I have built two now with no problems, out of veneered MDF. Nothing to difficult, but supported all round, I am no cabinet maker but the ones i have seen along with prices are a joke for painted metal or plastic coated chipboard.

the normal tap water contains no Nitrite. This is what had me confused? where is the Nitrite come from, all ammonia tests have been negative. I have removed the plants now, so have just a bare tank with gravel rocks and fish.
