    Figure 8S Skittish

There isn't much activity at all around the tank besides the fact the tank is in the den where we watch TV. I wasn't aware about the feeding times, I usually try feed them once in the evening around 7 or 8 but it definitely varies quite a bit, what is the ideal feeding time?

    Figure 8S Skittish

I've got a 29 gallon planted biocube with 2 figure 8 puffers & 4 bumblebee gobies, everybody seems to be happy & eating except the puffers hide whenever I approach the tank. I've had the puffers for about 2 months & they seem to have been doing this for about 1 month, I cant think of anything...

    Brackish Loaches

Thanks any experience with this Botia Rusbusta, I just got a dragon (violet) goby and ended up having to return him because he was too disruptive to my aquascape and plants. I realize the Botia Rusbusta probably digs but I'm wondering if they are as destructive.

    Dragon Goby Starting Trouble

I just got a dragon (violet) goby, its a really interesting fish & he seems to be doing great, eating a lot, swimming all over the place, he seems to be enjoying himself. The problem is he's actually too active and quite boisterous, he's re-scaping my tank. I have black flourite sand & he is...

    Bottom Dweller/algae Eater

I just got a dragon (violet) goby, and he's like a little vacuum cleaner sucking up all the leftover food that falls to the bottom of the tank. I would highly recommend looking into one of these guys they are a very interesting looking fish however he creeps out my wife. I haven't noticed him...

    Brackish Loaches

Are there any brackish loaches? I read that Clown Loaches (Chromobotia macracanthus) swim in and out of seawater. I also read that the yo-yo loach (Botia almorhae) can thrive in a brackish environment. I'm not sure how reliable these sources are.

    Tanganyikan Goby Cichlid

Ok so I have been eyeballing a Horseface Loach, but I have a couple concerns. One I have a planted tank, will the loach uproot the plants with its burrowing? Two will the loach be able to live and escape my future figure-8 puffer attacks with its burrowing skills and nocturnal nature?

    Bought Some Bumblebee Gobies

How are the BB gobies doing? Just bought a few myself & they are loving the frozen bloodworms.

    Tanganyikan Goby Cichlid

I was looking at your FAQ, what about the peacock blenny Salaria pavo? Seems like a neat fish, I'm guessing they are hard to find?

    Tanganyikan Goby Cichlid

Thanks Neale, I appreciate the info! One more, how a Zebra blenny (Omobranchus zebra)I hear they are brackish, or any other blennys?

    Tanganyikan Goby Cichlid

Does anybody have any experience with any of the Tanganyikan Goby Cichlid species? I've read they can be kept in brackish tanks. I was also looking at a Horseface Loach, any insight would be helpful.

Will a Colombian Shark (Arius jordani) eat my bumblebee gobies?

    Loud Biocube Filter

I'm not sure about the salt setup, I think its totally different than brackish, I'm not sure how a salt cycle works. I believe your live rock is going to be acting as the real filter & I've seen people fill the middle chamber with the rock but again I'm the wrong guy to talk to.

    Loud Biocube Filter

Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried putting more water in? I usually fill mine up to as much as it will take.

    Water Quality

Yeah my nitrites were 0 but actually my nitrates were at about 5, which I wasn't thrilled about, even though the AMI kit says anything under 40 is OK. I was planning on losing some or all the shrimp, I'm guessing they wont be able to hide even in a heavily planted tank. To prevent the puffers...

    Water Quality

FHM- Thanks for your input. I have a bunch of pond snails & at least 20 ghost shrimp, they are all breeding like rabbits. It's a planted tank, fully cycled & been running for close to 4 months. I'm using an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals AFI freshwater kit. Any further thoughts are appreciated...

    Water Quality

I'm possibly going to be purchasing some bumblebee gobies, my LFS is supposed to have them in this Thursday & if they look good I hope to get about 5 for my 29 gallon brackish BioCube. I did a water test & everything checked out OK, except the PH was a bit high @ 8.2, is this an acceptable...

What Kind Of Bumble Bee Goby Can I Get

Diversity of nature be damned. I just don't want to order some bumblebee gobies & get stuck with something like this, but I would take care of and grow to love the creature no matter how ugly. For whatever its worth, which doesn't sound like much according to you, this is allegedly a...

What Kind Of Bumble Bee Goby Can I Get

There is a good amount of diversity in size, shape, and color amongst Brachygobius, I find it hard to believe you cant at least narrow it down between a couple species. To simply accept that I have purchased a Brachygobius species of some sort doesn't sit well with me, especially because I'm...

What Kind Of Bumble Bee Goby Can I Get

I’m trying to get my hands on some BB gobies, my normal source says the Brachygobius xanthozona are the best all around for my brackish tank but there are none available on the horizon & only available in the spring and fall typically. From reading a little online, perhaps my guy is mistaken...

    Breeding Snails

Or what if I put a refugiam or even a cheapo baby nursery like this one here: http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=14698 I can stick out of sight it in the middle compartment of my BioCube 29. Does anyone think this could work, would the snails might be too...

    Breeding Snails

Its most likely going to have to be a small tank & discrete I mentioned it to my wife yesterday & she wasnt thrilled about the prospects of another tank, I think I may be pushing my luck. What kind of filter would you put in a small tank how bout something like this...

    Breeding Snails

OK I guess I need to setup another tank, the wife is going to love me, I guess the smaller the better. Do you think I can get away with a 5 gallon, maybe I'll setup a cheesy tank with a neon substrate, a moving skeleton pirate & maybe a couple tetras, frogs or electric blue lobsters, this is...

    Breeding Snails

I was thinking I'd put the tank in the tank cabinet but there would be no lights, of course unless I added lighting, or maybe its just easier to setup a separate tank elsewhere, seems like kind of a pain, any thoughts...

    Breeding Snails

So I'll be getting a couple figure-8s at some point & have a decent amount of snails in my 29 gallon biocube. I was wondering if I have to setup a separate snail breeding tank or if the snail population will be able to reproduce fast enough to survive puffer feedings.

What To Add First - Figure-8S Or Bumblebee Gobies

My 29 gallon BioCube is ready for the Figure-8S & Bumblebee Gobies, but I was wondering what I should add first & if it mattered. The plan is to have 2 figure-8 puffers & 5+ or so bumblebee gobies. I was thinking of putting the gobies in 1st in order to let them setup shop & then get the...

    My Biocube 29 Setup

Here is what I have so far, I'm a little worried I'm crushing the hornwort in the back left corner, I may have to move some rocks away or the hornwort up. I have a bunch of unused slate that I may add to make more caves. Keep in mind I'm planning on keeping figure-8 puffers & bumble bee...

    My Biocube 29 Setup

Thanks Neale that's good news about the salinity. I'm still waiting on the hornwort, dwarf hair grass & pygmy chain sword, then I will totally re-scape. However, I'm noticing something troubling, the anacharis is starting to look translucent and the leaves are shredded looking, the photo...
