I have now got my fish in the tank and the bacteria is going ok i have got 16 Malawis in there so im going ot leave them for a bit then add a few more later on i have a problem tho now can you still add bi carb if the fish are in the tank?
I have posted a video on youtube of the fish in the...
thanks old man i did try to explain it to them but they didn't want to listen i think he was more interested in the 5 day money back offer they have and i wouldnt get it if i had more than 6.
i am well annoyed i went to my LFS today and i told them about my fishless cycle and they said that they wouldnt sell me nay more than 6 fish to start with as doing what i have done will have made no difference and this is coming from the place that sold me that API filter start and told me if i...
:hyper: zeros at the 12 hour mark :hyper:
i know people say about the bacteria starts are no good but i think the API one has helped my cycle along but also my tank was second hand and still has the hold substrate in when i cycled my tank
sounds good i think thats what people are having problems with ive gone through a few of the cycling posts and people are adding 4ppm at the 12 hour mark which is why it is taking 2 months to complete maybe something needs to gbe changed with instructions on the link just to say only check it at...
if my ammonia is at 0ppm tomorrow morning do i need to add the ammonia then or am i just checking that it is processing it in 12 hours i think this could be the reason that some peoples seem to go really slow i have noticed oneonion is adding 4ppm at the 12 hour mark and the nitrates are taking...
looks like things going good and the nitrite is being processed a lot faster now hopefully it will be ready for twice a day testing from monday :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
when i am testing at the 12 hour mark do i and the ammonia is at 0ppm but the nitrite is still high do i still need to be adding 5ppm of ammonia at 12 hours or is it just 5ppm per day?
Im shocked
I really thought the Nitrite would be well high today as im adding Ammonia every day now! But its gone down.
Im going to reduce the amount of ammonia im putting in to 4ppm now
hmm i think this is where my Nitrite spike is going to start im at 0ppm ammonia now and im going to add 3-4ppm and i think its going to hold it above tyhe 5ppm mark of nitrate now for a while never mind see how it goes
I have only just noticed but when i crank my lights on in the morning my rummy nose has no colour on its nose then after a while it comes back.is this a problem or does this usualy happen and does anyone know why?
ah thats ok then its just deciding what fish to have.
I really like Malawis but i dont know if my tanks big enouogh to just keep labs and some other smaller malawis
Thats sounds good but no so good as i need money for fish and dont get paid until 15th of jan i supose when it is starting to be at zero every 12 hours i can just add the same amount of ammonia twice a day until i get paid then do a big water changen say a day before.
Will the bacteria...
so far what i have used and put in there
day 1 when filled with water
Seachrem prime dechlorintaor also removes ammonia and detoxifies nitrite and nitrate
Api stress zyme - Biological filter booster
Then day 6 put some more prime in to see if it worked on the nitrite level
About day 3 i...
 im really confused mny Nitrite level has just dropped to zero
Im sure this is a good sign has anyone seen this before i know ive added chemicals before that maybe wasnt suggested to do so but it seems as this is moving to quickly which is good really but im not sure if im doing...
its below 7 tomorrow ill do a full water change on it as the tap water where i live is ph8.2 and i have ocean rock in there so it should bring it back up.
How much bakin soda do you need to add to bring it back up?
my tap water is ph8.2 so will keep an eye on it for a bit if it goes below 7 ill do a 50% what you think?
ive added another Fluval U4 filter aswel instead of an external filter
im going to have some sort of cichlids not sure yet. the lfs suggested i get this filter it is on offer and does 1500litres per hour so will help quite a bit
its 180litres/47.5g and the filter does 1000litres/264g per hour so it works out about 5.5 time an hour.
the stuff im using is seachrem water conditioner. (i did mean nitrite) its reduces chloring/nitrite and nitrate
i have got some stuff that hold nitrtate levels from going so high it takes ages for it to com back down and also have cleaned my other tanks filter out today and basicly squeezed all the dirt rite next to my new filter so maybe some good will have come out of it.
im really pleased with the...
fish flakes only build enough bacteria to handle the breakdown of food. The ammonia is by far the best and more humain for fish.
i just started mine 5 days ago and it gives you time to get to know your equipment and choose your fish.
this is the api test kit right?
i did my second nitrate test tonight and it is hard tell between 5 and 1 ppm i think im going to invest in another liquid test kit something like tetra where its yellow or red makes it a bit easier to read results
also i found this on the site
NOTE FOR API TEST...
