    Green Algae Film On Surface

I'm off to the LFS today to get a new co2 canister so I will take a look for a different plant nutrient. The Ferropol is almost empty anyway, and so expensive! I will be going back to weekly water changes after this weekend as I will be getting my weekends back for a while :)

    Green Algae Film On Surface

@ RadaR - Until recently I was dosing with Ferropol (about 50ml) every week after the water change. The last couple of months I have only been able to do the water change every 2 weeks tho, same amount of Ferropol but every 2 weeks. I also have some Ferropol 24h of which I (try and remember) to...

    Green Algae Film On Surface

Hi, I have a planted tank with pressurised co2 and over-tank lighting. The amount of co2 is correct according to the drop checker and plant growth seems ok (only ok, not great). I have noticed that after about 3-4 days of cleaning the tank I get a thin green algae film on the waters surface...

    Jbl Plant Substrates

I have read about rinsing the JBL Manado substrate before putting it in the tank, but what about the JBL Aqua Basis? Should this be rinsed too, or just put straight in? Thanks :)

    Hagen Glo Light Hood System

I was looking at those today, the twin 54w one. I'm also curious to know if they are any good. I did speak to one of the guys at the shop who had one on his tank at home, and he reckons they are good.

Help With Lighting For Planted Tank

Am trying to work out the best option for converting my Rena Aqualife 120 to a planted tank. Its about 65G so i need at least 130w of lighting. And the tank is very deep so i guess the more lighting the better. Currently I have 2 x 40w T8 tubes, so that's not going to be enough. I saw this on...

    Jbl Co2, Which One?

Thanks. I guess the night switch pays for itself with the Co2 saving. Is the canister method that much better than the home-made yeast systems? Is the cost worth it?

    Jbl Co2, Which One?

Am thinking of getting one of the JBL Co2 systems. What are the pro's and con's over the M602 and the U402? Does the re-fillable canister make much difference to price etc? It's a fair bit cheaper for the disposable one. And I see that you can buy a U to M adaptor later if needed. What about...

    Re-charging nitrAte removers

Has anyone any suggestions on how to re-charge nitrAte removers. My tap water this time of year has around 40ppm nitrAtes so i struggle to keep it down. I brought a nitrate remover bag to put in my external filter which worked wonders (10ppm now), but the re-charge process looked a bit of a...

    Piranhas

Sorry to jump in on the thread. I thought this was the law in the UK. While at one of my LFS (not one i buy from) i noticed they were selling 'feeder guppies'. I didn't say anything as wanted to get my facts straight first. Might have to take a trip down there!

    Juwel

I have had a Vision 180 now for about a year. Didn't use the supplied filter as i already had a mature external canister. Had a nightmare removing the filter box from the tank! Heater failed (stuck on!) after about 6 months replaced with a different brand, but all fine now. Great tank.

    WATER CHANGE

I'm lucky in that i have an electric shower. It's fed direct from the cold water supply so doesn't sit in a tank like the hot water, and i just set it to the lowest temp and its exactly the right temp for the tank.

    Confusion

I agree with heresmike, did mine in the same way. Took a couple of hours but it's far better and easier to do it right the first time. After putting it in the tank i had no clouldiness whatsoever.

    Juwel Rio 125 tank

I recently brought a vision 180 and deceided not to use the internal filter supplied. Why do they stick the filter casing to the glass!!!! They should just use suction cups so the damn thing comes off. I had a very worring half hour trying to gently remove it without damaging the glass! Also the...

    Green hair Algea

i had a big problem with this as well. read somewhere that it's very hard to get rid of, the best way is just to dump all the plants and start again. i didn't dump all of them just the ones that the algea always seemed to start from. finger crossed all fine for the last 2 weeks. i also added a...

    algae on half the glass

the way the outlet is angled now makes it still flow over the area with no algae but also most of the other area that does. i will clean all the glass at the weekend and see how things go. if still having a problem i'll probably buy a power head to get some more water movement down the other end...

    algae on half the glass

Good point. I am using the reflectors. That would explain the line. Not sure why its only half the tank though. The lights cover the whole length. My lights are on for a bit long at the moment. I'm getting a timer switch tomorrow so hopefully that will help.
