Hi , i originally got him as a her LOL from a shop that was selling female betta's . cost £3 i think. looked like this a week after i got it, 3 months later was the above picture showing the vivid colours

ture imbellis are alot longer then thinner in the body then a splenden, looking again the pic looks like some kind of cross. whos to really know lol :lol:

from what i read , thats the aquarium strain "maybe mized with anyother betta too?" or enhanced by breeders. then the ones like i have are the true wild strain un played with. sayin that tho, i take everything i read about any betta's with a pinch of salt :lol:

Dont understand what your asking? the color in wild bettas is rather differant compaired to domestic bettas http://www.ibcbettas.org/smp/species/splendens.html this is my wild color male ,

id say so, made everything spin round when i first turned it on, an that was in a large corner tank, think that was 140L , can adjust the flow easily, and out of which outlet it comes from.

well who knows, gaint bettas where bred after one large better was found then several breeding lines from them both short tail and long. wether this original betta was just large by chance, or a differant species is anyones guess, most of the wild bettas i keep are small but i do know some are...

Giant bettas can get to about4-5" body lengh not including fin lench etc. imho 10gal would be way to small for such a fish. all the wilds i have or have seen orhad a read on are not that big, from what i can gather these giant bettas are from selective breeding only.

possibly there on about the giant bettas? if so there like a normal betta, but larger, not really read alot about them tho, alot of people have them on bettas4all not really a wild type either i dont think.

One of the falx males is now holding eggs too :hyper: all while co-habiting with Female splendens in my QT tank.

sounds good, with him spitting them out, is he still young? may be that his mouth was just a bit full for him, also if its his first time they somtimes take a couple of times to get the hang of it all. :good:

put a mirror upto the glass on the tank for few mins and watch him go nuts at him self, not a good idea to do it for long though. :good:

haha a few of mine do this, even some of my wild betta have started doing this too, wait untill your guy starts jumping out the water at your hand for a playfull nip. i still cant help but jump everytime :lol:

Ebay lol :lol: its very hard to find wild betta here in the uk, your lucky if most LFS stock anything other then VT's with some CT's maybe female betta's if your lucky !

nah see with splendens they build bubble nests, these the male holds the eggs in his mouth, so useually has a much larger head, tho saying that it can be hard when there young, as these are, with my simplex i can now make out what is male and female as there older, but these falx, bit tricky at mo.
