    *crying*

Sounds a little like an insecurity to me, (she to you initially but you're showin' the signs, what with her rain on your parade). I understand where you're coming from, (Lordy! I do!) -she's trying turn herself into St Francis of Assisi all of a sudden -you have to ask why? It's not really...

    Major Fish worries!!

I'm new to this myself. I made the same mistake of doing the research afterwards. However from my small experience I can safely say that you are in the right place. All of the following is general advice. Some things that you need to do on the hurry up: Get water testing kit and get yourself...

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

Well folks this is probably, and hopefully, the last post regarding my new tank and it's cycle. I just got home from work and tested. Ammo and Nitrite are nil for the third consecutive day. Nitrates are at a constant 25. Everything else is as it was with perhaps a small curve towards a...

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

Will do! It just seems a little TOO good to be true -which means it probably is. Any ideas on the flossy stuff from the bogwood? It looks like spun candy.

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

Thanks again  I tested again about half an hour ago. Ammo and Nitrite are still zero, whilst nitrates are showing as 25. I did a 10% water change almost 16 hours ago, there was some Flossy matter on the bogwood which I didn't like the look of. -_- If the cycle is over wasn't it a...

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

I'm not so sure that it's over. Today tested nil again on Nitrite and Ammo. Nitrates up a tad to maybe thirty. It's a Bi-Orb and holds 10US Gall. So far eleven or twelve days but seven with fish.... The Bubble Brothers seem okay, so that's alright with me!

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

Splendid. Thanks again for the feedback. It's reassuring to know that experienced people are out there and willing to lend a hand. I'm sure the Bubble Brothers, (my tetra), are a tad more relieved than I am -if only they knew!

    Nirtrate levels NO3: Advice needed

New test reads as below: 0.2 NO2 (A decrease of .3 -however, it's hard to be 100% accurate. The scale on my test doesn't deal in less than .5) 25 NO3 (An increase of 5) Nil NO2 (Constant) 16+ GK (Constant) 20+KH (Constant) 8 PH (Constant) 78 degrees (Constant) 10US Gall tank (includes bogwood...

    Hello and thankyou

Alas that is the case. Unfortunately the concept of cycling a tank seems not to be known/explained by LFS or large-scale tank suppliers-mine's depressmart btw, and they offer a 7 day guarantee with the fish, go figure. As regards cycling, I only learned because I was noodling away on the web...

    Bi-Orb Blues

I feel better now. Woke up this morning to find four fish still looking perky. I'm in the process of preparing and heating a five gallon bucket for a series of 10-20% water changes. I managed to get my hands on a litre of gravel from an established, and disease-free, tank which I've bagged in a...

    Bi-Orb Blues

According to the blurb, it's a five-step filtration system. From what I've ascertained primary is the aeration, secondary is the sponge filter and carbon pellets, and then as a tertiary measure, once established, ahem, it's the bacterial growth on the ceramics. The Bi-Orb website and the...

    Bi-Orb Blues

I'm in a bit of a quandry at the moment -where to start? I bought a Bi-Orb a week ago -no excuse, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I filled it with water, added the sachet of Stress Zyme, plugged in the light and the therm, (78 degrees) , added a lump of bogwood, a small laval rock and...

    Hello and thankyou

Hello there, Such a brilliant web-site and populated by some amazingly helpful, friendly and experienced people. Unfortunately, I found this site a little too late. I confess, I haven't cycled properly. I knew nothing of it. Now, after 8 hours of reading the forums I am a little more...
