    Danio question

Thanks so much heresmike! I'll for sure check the link out! My tests definitely registered during cycling too, so I think they are fine...

    Danio question

We do water changes once a week. I think our load is fairly light (this is my 30 gallon tank) and we do have quite a few plants in the tank. Do you have any ideas about the danios? I tend to think it's some kind of overbreeding birth defect sort of thing, but since the second one started...

    Danio question

I guess I'm confused, I thought you didn't want nitrates or nitrites. I supposed in looking at the test more carefullly it could be somewhere between 0 and 5ppm, but no higher than that for sure. We've had this tank up for over a month now, and that is what it has been consistently reading, 0 0 0.

    Danio question

I started with 6 leopard danios, and put them into my fishless cycled tank (along with some other fish...) A few weeks later, I noticed one of them with a bent back, humpback if you will. A few days later he died, which I knew was coming because he was swimming slower and slower, and the bend...

    Tiger Barbs

I was going to move the 3 white clouds out of my 10 gallon, and make it a species tank with 4-6 tiger barbs. All my other fish would be in the 30 gallon...

    Tiger Barbs

Actually, that's all I was going to put in there (4-6) tiger barbs. I just wanted to be sure they wouldn't be miserable in that small of a tank...

    Tiger Barbs

My husband really likes Tiger Barbs...I was wondering if they would do well in our 10 gallon tank, or if that would be too small. If need be, I could move the white clouds to the bigger tank, if they wouldn't do well with the TBs. Also, would they do ok with our two otos? I was really wanting...

    New here...

Thanks for the tips! I was actually thinking about moving the otos to the 10 gallon and getting some cories for the bigger one. We did start with 2 ghost shrimp, but I'm sorry to say somehow one is missing. The only thing I can figure is I sucked him up when I vacuumed the tank and didn't see...

    Help please....

Ok, I'm back from the LSS. I tested the water, and here's what I have: Amonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 PH, somewhere around 7.4 or slightly higher (those two browns are really hard to tell apart on the color card) I also bought a new heater, because the old one did seem to fluxuate a little (el...

    Help please....

Thanks LoveMyOscar. You know, we don't have a nitrate tester -- one didn't come in the kit we got. So...I'll head to the LSS today to get one, turn the temp up a tad, and see what happens. Is 7.4 ok for the ph? You know what the frustrating part is? We have been vigil about testing, water...

    New here...

Guess I should introduce myself here. I have a 10 gallon and 30 gallon freshwater tank. Knew nothing the first time with the 10 gallon, so we lost the 3 fish we started... Read a little after that, and started both tanks with a fishless cycle. Currently have 3 white mountains in the 10...

    Help please....

We did do a water change, although it wasn't large, more like 20%. And yes, the amonia and nitrites are still 0 as of yesterday. I forgot to mention that the ph is 7.4.

    Help please....

I have been reading this forum now for a few months, and have learned a lot!! We seem to be having a few problems with our fairly new 30 gallon tank. It is fully cycled (did the fishless cycle with amonia), amonia is 0, nitrites are 0, temp is 76 (I'm not even sure exactly what the temp should...
