Bump,this forum seems to have a larger Scottish mob than most,so even if anyone has seen one in their local lfs,it's been discontinued so I'm willing to travel an hour or so from Falkirk. Be grateful if you could keep an eye out,lfs are very limited here.

As above,I'm after the Osaka 320,full set up.New or nearly new,dosen't matter as long as it is watertight and not noticeably damaged. Am willing to travel but not too far,maybe 20 mile or so.

I've got a planted 60l that I have a pair of fire red appistograma agasizii (spelling sorry!) in,with a little shoal of pencil fish and a single veiltail bristlenose.

I got some bristlies off him,doing great,really healthy fish.

I've got veiltail bristlenoses in my 125,both standard brown and albino which I couldn't recommend enough.They're not shy at all and very graceful looking,for plecs lol!!(Don't get more than 4/5" including fins and are very kind to planted tanks.

Neons go into a sleep like state at night (they lose their glow and sink to the bottom),I have witnessed mine on umerous occassions completely wigging out when I put the light on unexpectantly.

My little honey gouramis,male and female,used to face up to the angels.I only have 1 angel just now,currently housed with bristlenoses,neons and apistos. The only one that causes any problems is the male apisto,who likes to try and eat the angel's ventrals.

Yep,java ferns are nice,the standard,narrow leaf and windelov.My vote also gose for anubias,I've never seen crypts on wood and don't believe they'd do well as they are heavy root feeders with large root systems.Anubias gets my vote too. Pogostemon Helferi is another one that you can supposedly...

Well funnily enough,I tried my bristlies with apple last week,they weren't that impressed,and the neons never touched it.

I also have VERY fat neons.They are not sick,I've had them for over a year and never lost any,they're not all fat,just two (I have 15),and they don't have any difficulties swimming.I thought they were maybe just very eggy,at one point they were spawning a lot but not now.

I have too,individual plants though,they're good traders.

I've heard that clowns are bad for rearranging your planting and ripping up the substrate.You could get around that by growing different species of anubias (lots of them),java ferns and mosses,all of which are grown attached to hardscape and will grow in lower lighting.

yep,it means the carbon in your filter.

Anubias and mosses are lovely for no co2,I've also grown Hygrophila Polysperma and Sagittaria Subulata well without co2,and floaters like Amazon Frogbit.

Try to resist going all Fancy Nancy,remember it's for your wee boy and while you want it to look nice,you also want something to interest the little one. My wee boy has a tank in his room with dwarf gouramis in,they're quite curious and interactive.

No,it's just like sand,but black.Though I suppose all sand is different grain,but it doesn't look like crushed glass,just sand. If you're going planted,there are a few good black plant substrates now.

Excel will prob work out very expensive on a tank that size,have a look at systems using fire extinguishers.

Tom,if you go to the classified sections on here,there are usually members selling java moss very reasonably and all sorts of other stuff.

Seachem flourish I believe doesn't contain n&p whilst Tropica+ does.Please correct me if I'm wrong. As for the other poster,Seachem flourish is your ferts,or food,Excel is your liquid carbon source,so unless you are using gaseous co2,you will need both.

I would thik they'll recover,java ferns are quite hardy.Just attach them to your hardscape,java ferns will take nutrients in through their leaves,so adding liquid ferts will give them a boost.Just keep an eye on them,trim off any dead areas,bear in mind java ferns often grow with transparent...
