Thanks for that. I only have one tank, a Juwel 70. I don't have a quarantine or 'growing' tank. I will move the molly this evening but leave the remaining 3 in the hatchery until I can figure out what to do.

Guys, I hafve 4 fry (3 x sailfin mollies and 1 x swordtail). They are in their enclosure about 2 months now but don't seem to be growing at all. 1 of the sailfin mollies is about 3cm but the others are still tiny. How long before I should release them into the main tank? The community tank...

Some time back my male swordtail had whitespot and during this time he became a target for other fish and had his fins badly nipped. Is he like this for life now or is there something I can add to the water to help them recover?

I'm now at the stage where I need to change my various filter media. The white filter gets changed every 3 weeks. I need to change the green, black and 2 blue filters. What's the best way to do this? I know the various media take time to adjust to the water and build up the bacteria levels...

That's a really nice looking tank imo. Just tested my tap water for nitrates and its at 5 but my tank water is still at 20. I'm confused.

Update: I decided to get rid of this fish as another neon tetra 'disappeared' overnight so I brought him back to the shop and replaced him with a betta and some sailfin mollies.

Thanks for the quick response. Interesting that you should say they're aggressive because anything I've found on the net and what the LFS guy told me would suggest the opposite which is why I opted for him over siamese fighters.

Added a dozen new neon to the tank yesterday and so far all they seem to do is sit at the bottom in a corner looking at their reflections in the glass. Is this normal or will they actually go for a swim at any stage? Vain little critters!!
