Breeder feeder IMO is the worst thing you can do with the 55 ur cichlids will be better off on pellets and other food designed for central,south Americans

iv heard of doing 50% wc daily but iv heard that can be more detrimental to the fish as it is constantly changing the environment and also stability of water is affected i have been doing 25% twice a week and feeding 3-4 times a day and they all have little bellies and test my water every other...

as soon as i can shift on my other fish that are in there now and get the water similar to the tank they are in now so maybe a week or 2 as the 45gal is just too small for em

will do im gonna end up with 6-8 in my tank with 20-30 rummynose,pair of bolivian rams and 12 or so corys

well iv heard a lot of different things i mean when they get moved into the bigger tank then its got 2 externals so wc's might be 25-30% a week and ye get that 240 ready mate you wont regret it

im gonna do 2x 25% changes a week and tap water as its around neutral in my area so i have added wood in just to soften it that little more

i dont see why you couldnt get 6 in that size tank i mean you would be limited to other tank mates but certainly do half a dozen discus

in a 120 you will be looking at maybe a pair of dwarf cichlids like rams if you intend on other fish in there if not then maybe a pair of firemouth's these are gorgious when a pair form imo. or if you wanted to go for a more biotope set up you could look at tanganyikan shell dwellers these...

y wait i say i have been pondering for about a year now and i finally did it, im so impatient i have them in a 45g atm but moving em into my 75gal asap just need to shift on the fish from my other tank first. iv had them a day and i cant wait till i get some more in and see them in a nice shoal...

cheers i have a small blue diamond in and he seems to be the most active they are very reserved atm but they only went in yday hey are eating bloodworm but not prima so i will feed lightly on bloodworm till they demand more food

I find em a good price and good quality mIne were feeding straight away

Got it from maidenhead aquatics as its the only decent place around my area for discus

dark colours etc as mine seem to have maintained their colour i was wondering if "six" started off with full colours before his darkened up

just got some kusuri wormer gonna add that in then get some shots of my new guys

i have just added my first discus in the tank they have been in the tank for about 2 hrs now and have maintained their colour hopefully this will continue when did "six" start looking a bit "wobbly"

woo got my first discus today a couple of stendkers and a blue diamond just settling em in now ill get pics soon

cheers mate worth having a look at but im going to be looking at ordering some stendker for myself at work next week i have my eyes set on some nice stendker turqs and leopards just after some contrasting colour will blues, reds and yellows or whites

also guys what would be the best thing to do add the other fish first or the discus first ?

ye the ones at my work are 12cm+ im not going to cheap out with them plus i can see the colours coming through on slightly larger fish i have a 75gal tank with my big nasties in which will be going into a 6x2x2 soon so a nice 75gal will be free for em i was looking at getting some rummynose...

i dno lol theres two really nice leopard skins that are around 10-12cm in diametre woul you say thats a good size to get em ?

cheers doodster i have decided to get the 6 juvees in my 45 gal ten grow them on for my 75 gal i have decided to leave the big nasties as discus allow me to keep other peacful fish i like such as apisto's and corys i have some nice stendker discus in my work so ill be having a a few of them

best get saving then lol

I was thinking of getting of getting 6x juvenile discus and growing them on how should I add them all at once or any other order

Course you could enjoy them till around 5-6" when they hit that they would need s bigger tank but until then enjoy !!!!!

Yea I was thinking that you see iv got a 75gal ATM with Oscar and jag cichlid in but I'm gonna be moving within 6 months so I'm getting a 6x2x2 so the discus will be moving into the 75 gal which I van assume that's a good size for them

Hi not been on here for a while, just after some advice really I'm thinking about going for the discus plunge I have a 45 gal tank is this big enough if so how many and what tank mates could I have , any other advice appreciated too Cheers foley

Couldn't agree more 75 gal is a good home for an Oscar I'd prefer bigger but I have no room

Well if seen some nice scobys in a Maidenhead they have been in for about 2 months now and look great but I'm drawn to royal plecs as I think they would appreciate the wood more

Id agree 75gal is a good size aquarium for an Oscar the green terror if it carrys on being mellow it might work

Ye they are only juvees iv had a severum in with the gt for a while up until a few day.s ago and the gt never bothered him that's why I questioned whether the g would be ok with an oscar

Tank mates will be pims gt maybe Oscar temps at 26c and decor is a huge 3ft piece of bogwood lava rock and fake plants

Pims are 5" the green terror is quite mellow compaired to ones iv had in past the Oscar is avtad bit bigger than my gt
