    T5 Vs T8

I prefer the T5 to T8 for my 29 gallon tank, 30in, because the the T5s come in 30 inches. The T8s are 24 inches. Also I found with T5HO I would need to inject Co2 thus the tank would no longer be a low tank, which how I want to keep it.

    T5 Vs T8

 At least you are not being impulsive and jumping in. I went to a lot of effort to make a diy light. It started out cheap and ended up costing as much as much as a dual T5HO light system cost here This is cheap because it is made by Current USA. Their fans are loud but that is an easy...

If there is an independent pet store you could trade the fish there for other items, like test kits. Also have you checked to see if there is an Aquarium Association near you? For could auction items that you don't want there. Also having a bunch of plants that come with the tank will help...

question 1: sand substrate There are rhizome plants, mostly Java ferns, and moss that don't require a good substrate. Possibly could have some stem plants if you use plant sticks or you could get some laterite and mix it in. Laterite is cheaper than the fluorite in the long run. Here is example...

Aggressive Schooling Fish Tetra Or Barb That Can Handle Krib?

From my experience Serpae and Tiger Barbs are semi aggressive. The older they are the more aggressive. The tiger barbs seem to be faster than the Serpae were. I wonder if zebra danios would work for they are very fast swimmers and very cheap.

    Peaceful Barbs?

Sometime barbs and tetras nip other fish fins. Not all of the time though. For example I had some big Serape Tetra with neons, which ate the end of the neon tetras. Now I have some small barbs and they don't bother any of my fish, even 1s with long fins. Neither would bother the pleco...

Mr Barb Comitted Suicide :( I Think....

Hmmm!!! It seems your cat was extremely mesmerized by the fish to the point that he had to have it. You must help him maintain his control by covering the tank better or locking him up, dude. Like the story of Sylvaster and tweety bird.

    Algae Over Growth

They are not the same. Flourish excel will probably kill the algae. It kills a lot of variety of algae even though that is not what is sold for. You still need to get the nutrients balanced or it will come back. I think CSM+B would help.

What To Feed My Plants - Tank Pics Included

Andy it is true. My vals were melting until I stopped using flourish excel. Now in place of it I use hydro peroxide. This is just a temporary replacement until I get diy Co2 set up. The plants seemed to be growing really great in January. Thus I don't understand why the thread?
