There are forums round that will keep you right but its very easy, Our kids got the pandora battery and firmware and did the flashing themselves, the worry with buying second hand electronics is something you have to decide for yourself, The reason id not buy a psp second hand from ebay is there...

From my experience this sounds like over heating of the cpu, silicon grease can be added between the cpu and heatsink to ensure proper contact so heat can disperse better...or more powerfull heatsink added and pc relocated to somewhere cooler. Check your bios for settings and cpu temperatures...

My kids have this they used the pandora battery trick to do it and flash the psp and it works well for them, you need a good size memory card and its a breeze to do..Id be wary of buying a ready flashed PSP from ebay but would rather do the flashing myself as second user hacked PSP's from online...
