Hey do you know if you got your sparkling gourami at your LFS or off the internet? are they easy to get meaning do most LFS carry them?

ok so i asked around in a live chat, dwarf gouramis wouldn't work but they told me sparkling gouramis will. people told me i could do one of those with some shrimp in a 5 gallon, but i'm wondering if i can have two of them possibly, with or without the shrimp.

why would serpaes be worse choices than neon tetras?

since my only source for aquatic life is my LFS (petco) i don't think i can get any of the options you suggested. however, i do want to try out the galaxy rasboras. maybe just a few of them could a work out. OR i'll go with a betta and two african dwarf frogs?

don't regular neons grow up to 2 inches? look here http://www.petco.com/product/101091/Neon-Tetra.aspx guppies are also a good choice, and so are rasboras. this is a hard decision.

but it says black neons only go up to 1.5 inches. what about bloodfins? i think my lfs might have some rasboras i can get, are they tropical fish?

wait i have some tiger barbs too and petco said that the tiger barbs grow very slow. i got the barbs about 5 days ago as 1' fish, if not smaller, and petco said that since i don't have them in that big of a tank, they won't grow to the full 3'
