Only one type of datnoid is brackish and does perfectly fine in fresh water, dats grow reasonably well to 5" given the right amount of food ( they need a lot ). I have baby bass in with my baby dats but in a month or so they will need to be separated as the growth rate on bass is rapid to say...
Unfortunately that is too far for me to meet you, although it would be a good day out.
I seem to be having no luck with the on aquarist classifieds either. 10" one on there for £50 but sold quickly
there are some large ones in south wales and Cheshire too but too far away to make them worth...
Contacted live aquatics and awaiting a response, they are having a laugh with that one at maiden head aquatics, it's barely over 4" and looks skinny, would expect to be getting one 10-12" for that sort of price

Hi I'm looking for any type of datnoids large or small, I'm based in Grimsby and willing to travel a few hours to collect the fish.
Anyone know of any for sale private or trade let me know
Steve
Im trying to find 1-3 datnoids within a few hours travel distance from Grimsby,
Does anyone know of any for sale either private or trade, size is irrelevant too have a few different tanks they can go in.
Thanks
Steve
My fire eel is 26" long and as thick as a coffee mug, he can still pretty much fold himself in half. In theory they could be kept in a small tank but I doubt you would raise one to its full size. Mine has never tried to escape but my friends lifted a 4 mm piece of glass off the top of his tank...
the motoros in Hinkley MH are about 20" disc we were going to buy them last year but couldnt justify the £500 asking price. I was gutted because on our next visit the female was heavily pregnant with quite a few pups
I have two females and one male at the min, smallest female only ate...
The boating lake is just around the corner from my house, geese get pretty aggressive when they have there young with them and there is about 30,000 of them
Photos look good to me
Steve
I thought that would be the case  ill keep the more frequent water changes up and see if it improves at all, doesnt seem to be effecting the flagtail at all
Steve
Basically i had two flagtails in the tank, i was a few hours late feeding the tank and my arrowana ate one and took a bite out of the other.
The bite has damaged the flagtails eye, it was obvious that it was not going to heal but it appears to be developing some kind of fungus on the eye.
All...
Ive got a 6ft by 2ft tank and a 6ft by 3ft wide tank from them with cabinets etc, the only think i would say is to inspect the quality of the cabinet when it gets delivered i made them replace the lids on the larger tank due to them bieng warped and had to reorder door handles because they were...
I knew it may not be possible but i thought i may get away with it due to the silver bieng young only 8 months old just over 12" at the moment hes not a particularly aggresive feeder either due to growing up with a couple of pbass
i think i may add a larger datnoid and play it safe as i wouldnt...
just a word of warning if you try to get the loach out of the tank at any point, my largest clown was 10" long and over 3.5" tall he got caught in the net, i tried to get him out with my hand he flicked and i needed 3 stitches in my finger
there nice fish when you get a large group, i had 30 all...
I just hope that they keep the larger tanks and not just fill them with filter media like the rest of them are
any one know if an asian arow will mix
also does anyone on here have any experiance with an african arowana?
steve
There is already a maidenhead in Brigg so i dont think they will got there
sixhills are good for marines but very expensive, dont get much more than guppys and oscars for tropical
they have a 14 inch pescock bass in at the min for 75 that seemed reasonable but it is only because someone has...
A few of mine had the tusks visable all the time even when they wernt sticking out fighting for teritory etc, its perfectly normal,
id only be worried if they look anorexic and a lot of there bones are visable
Steve
ahh right i thought because the silver was still young that i would get away with it? would i have more success with asians?
there are not many shops round here, there is one in cleethorpes called fangs and fin that is worth a look occasionally have oddballs, ive just sold them my clown loaches...
i have an 8*3*3 for the arrows and rays and a couple of 6*2s sat around for 'just in case' situations lol
Everyone i have spoken to can readily get hold of asian arowanas but i preffer the shape and attitude of the black/ silvers
Steve
Hi im looking to add another arowana in with my rapidly growing silver, im prefferebly after a young black arowana to go with him
does anyone know of a uk based shop that i could get one from, im based in grimsby but would travel to the right shop
any help you can give me would be appreciated...
i have the same problem on one of mine must be a problem with the parts inside, mine has no reduction of flow compared to my other fully functioning 2180
I swear by the ehiem 2080 and 2180 filters maintenance is easy massive bio filtration capacity and very reliable,
In regards to the clown loaches, being a 'scaleless' fish they are far more prone to whitespot than any other fish so are normally the fist fish to catch it. I have around 20 5-11...
Next week I'm taking delivery of my new tank it is 6ftx3ftx2ft and I'm wondering what the best option would be to heat the tank?
On my 6ftx2ft tank I have 1 300w internal heater and then an ehiem 2180 which is 500w unfortunately the budget would not stretch to
Getting another 2180
What heaters...
I have bought some cheap full manual flash guns for this purpose, so no need to spend a load,
photoshop may be worth looking at to remove the floating particles from the background, i would highly recomend the greasproof paper
method of diffusing the flash gun
Steve
I have just bought myself a second hand aqua one aquieus cube tank from a guy who had it set up as a marine tank,
the problem however is that he has cut the rear section of the lid for a skimmer, i want to run the tank as a planted freshwater,
do any of you know where i can buy replacement lids...
Did you edit any of these photos in photoshop?
Monster fish keepers have a photography section that has a good level of advice on lighting etc.
Looking at the pics i would say that the level of flash is too high illuminating the whole tank rather than just the fish
