I wouldn't worry too much, gereally if its a first batch its to be expected that only a few survive if not any? but they will get back on track. Mine took four attempts before a sucessful batch. i agree, 36l is too small for a blue gourami, they can reach sizes of 15cm-17cm depending whether it being male or female. Males can beomce terratorial and agrresive towards smaller fish. Add some cycle or easy balance to top up on good bacteria.

Dwarf, honey or Thicklipped would suit it abit more but a Trichogaster leeri (Pearl Gourami ) can get around 10-12 cm and need around a 90 litre + tank Strippy
