I had a huge hair algae problem. I was on the verge of just taking the whole tank down and bleaching everything, then I tried the simplest thing. I did a 2 day blackout. On the third day, not one strand of hair algae was to be seen. Still clean to this day with 3 SAEs.

Set the heater to 78 or 80 tops. The heater in my guppy aquarium is at 78. The temperature of the water is what may also be causing them to die off. How many watts is the heater? It may simply just not have enough power to heat up 20 gallons of water, and even though some heaters have the option...

87 Fahrenheit? I would consider that too much for guppies. I think the highest you should have it at is 82 with 76/78 being ideal. Are you using aged tap water or dechlorinating/conditioning the tap water before putting it inside the tank?

This is one of my favorite bettas, his name is Pimp. He was having a flare off with the other fav. Betta (Playa). I'm planning on breeding him soon with an Opaque female. Curious to see how the fry turn out.

Cutting the roots won't affect significant nutrient uptake will it? And ya... the LFS around here are terrible when it comes to fish choices. They all carry the same common types. Neons, angelfish, corys, and the same plecos. That pretty much covers it.

haha, alright. Is there anyway to make them less visible or something? Should I just prune them? One root is like 6 inches long! I love the dwarf loaches, I've never seen any LFS carry the though... :(

So I recently acquired a tank from my brother. The tank contains 5 angelfish, 6 bala sharks, and some other fish which I can't identify for sure. I think the one in the blue box is a Red Tinfoil barb and the one in the red box... well I have no clue what barb (?) that is. Any help would be...
