I used one for the same purpose a few years back in a goldfish tank and didn't have any trouble.

Aquarium Rock- What Can't be Used?

Whichever rocks you choose, check them to see if they have any veins of metal running through them. Many metals, such as copper, can be poisonous to fish. Anyway, hope that helps a bit :)

    drift wood

Washing off the salt and soaking it should be OK, but take into account what fish you have. I wouldn't risk using it if you keep Corydoras or Plecs because even the smallest amount of salt left on the wood could spell disaster for them :( . Coating the wood with varnish may work but does have...

Just announcing 2 new cories to my tank

Hi, it's cool to see you've got more corys :D , their much happier in a group. If you've got males and females you may have loads more little ones soon! Good luck!

    Corydoras: Female only spawnings

Yeah sure. Even better why don't you post the pics on the forum so we can all take a look, that way you can get a 2nd opinion (cos I might not get it right!). Though I notice from your signature that your corys are babies. When corys are young/small it is difficult, if not impossible, to tell...

    dog food?

Feeding fish too much mammal protein can cause problems in their digestive system. Plus feeding dog food would probably be messy and cause water pollution problems, best to stick to proper fish food.

    INTERPET INTERNAL POWER FILTER

I have had one in my 16 gal. tank for over a year now, and so far it has worked great. It should be fine in your small tank.

    Corydoras: Female only spawnings

The girls have been spawning again this morning (did a water change yesterday, that always sets them off), think I'll get them some males so they can do it for real! You're probably right Inchworm, my male was just worn out! As for my lack of success with raising fry, I think it was mostly due...

    Corydoras: Female only spawnings

Ok, bit of a strange one here. I had 6 Bronze corys (1 male, 5 females) which spawned regularly (though I never successfully raised the fry). Unfortunately about a few months ago the male sadly went off to fishy heaven leaving the five girls. Strange thing is, the females have carried on...

    Hi everybody!

When I had 6 corys (1 male, 5 females) I had many spawnings, but unfortunately the fry never lasted much more than a week or two. Strangely, even though the male has died and I'm left with only females, I still get occasional spawnings (though the eggs look 'empty' and ofcourse don't hatch). Is...

    Fish tank background

I once saw a tank that had roofing slate stuck to the back, that worked quite well. But whatever type of internal backdrop you use, make sure it's stuck down well with no gaps behind it so no small fish can trapped behind it and die (I learn't that from experience  ).

    Fish tank background

A couple of years ago I stuck some cork tiles to the inside of my tank. No more reflection plus it didn't look to 'busy'. It looked good with the driftwood and plants against it. Just a suggestion, hope it helps!

    Hi everybody!

Hello to everybody on the site. I've been been looking at the site for a while (loads of good advice), yet until today never quite got round to registering. So here I am! I've got a planted 70L/16gal. tank with 5 albino Bronze Corys, 6 Neons and 1 Angelfish. :)

    Compost for my plants

Avoid using peat or compost from the garden centre - you don't know what nasty chemicals/pesticides/additives they may have put in it. Do you or anybody you know keep rabbits/guinea pigs? Their droppings can make good fertilizer, just put a one or two pellets in between the roots. Also, what...
