    Spot Causing Scales To Raise

Well the second dose went in Tuesday and the fish has made what looks like a full recovery. The spot has totally disappeared, and she is swimming round perfectly happy. My question now is when do I replace the carbon filter back into my filter? Also do I need to purchase a new one, or put the...

    Spot Causing Scales To Raise

No, there isn't any real redness to the spot. It looks just like a white lump under the scales. I dont have a hospital tank, something I really need to sort out. I need to be really carefully about what meds I can use as I have a BN plec

Hi again One of my swordtails has got a big spot just above her pectoral fin. Its a white spot that looks like a boil, its under her scales causing a few of them to look like they are coming away from her body. She seems fine in herself, swimming around the tank normally with the other fish...

Quite Possibly A Stupid Question About Plants

I bought some plants for my tank a few weeks back, and they all came in little black plastic meshed pots. I've sunk these under the gravel, but they always seem to rise out when I use a gravel vac when changing water. Should I have removed them from these pots. Its suddenly dawned on me that...

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

I have again tested my water, and ammonia levels and Nitrite levels are both on 0 for the second day running, with Nitrates being at 40 Fish seem fine, and scoffed down their dinner. I think that as the other fish was smaller then the rest that they bullied him :(

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

Thanks all for your responces. Unfortunately this morning the fish had died :( All the others look healthy, all of their fins are fine, they are active, and feed very well. I shall keep a very close eye on them, and will continue to test and change the water every day. Once again thats very much...

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

Cheers wilder. I really think that the male to female ratio was pretty bad, and that as this fish was the smallest they bullied him to death. The other fish all seem perfectly happy, no signs of any infection, torn fins, and are all eating very well. I shall however keep a very close eye on...

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

I posted this in another thread, but think I should have stuck it in here. The poor litle fish really isn't looking well at all, and has gone from looking a bit tatty but still swimming round, to spending lots of time on the bottom, and only swimming when trying to get away from other fish. He...

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

I've been watching the fish closly for the past half hour or so, and they really do seem to be picking on this fish, one of the females especially is nipping at him, mainly going for his pec fins. He is spending a lot of time laying on the gravel on the bottom of the tank now, and slowly lays...

    Unhappy Swordtail :(

As some of you know im new to the world of fish keeping, and unfortunately started my tank off with bottled product instead of cycling. I read through some of the articles, and my tank seemed to have cycled through the addition of the sera product. The ammonia had risen, the nitrites then rose...

    First Fish

The tank was cycled with a Sera product that add's the bacteria to the filter. People have said that I seem to have been very lucky with this product, as often its dead in the bottle. Before the fish were added I tested the water everyday, and it was removing the ammonia from the water over...

    New To Tropical Fish Keeping

I had tested my tap waters PH levels, but not the nitrates. I shall do this and let you know the levels. I shall see if I can pick up some ammonia today when I get my plants then :) Also with my tank water being highter than my tap water. What is it that causes this? And is a level of 8.0 OK...
