does that kind of light schedule have any negative effect on the fish? assuming a semi-lit room where the tank doesnt receive much natural sunlight so will be reasonably dark with the lights off??

i have 5 clown barbs and 8 tiger barbs and they tend to school together which is nice, the clown barbs will take off and the slower tiger barbs will try to keep up. its really cool sequence of activity, i guess they do it because of the similar coloration id definitely recommend tiger barbs...

swimming forward while the body rotates, like a corkscrew they kinda swim very forcibly along while twisting their body, around where the sand and glass met at the bottom for me if your fish do it youll most likely recognize it

maybe 4-5 pakistani loaches? mine never stop moving and in a group of 4 show no aggression at all. they have striking patterns and don't look like your typical fish. theyre my favourites :) they mostly swim around the middle and bottom of the tank they are hardy and grow to about 10-15cms...

For how long? I don't have a separate quarantine tank so the only way to do this is do put is in a container and float it in the water to keep the temp up. Isn't this kinda cruel? Is it likely to be contagious keeping in mind its been degenerating for a while now and no other fish are affected...

I would advise against the mini tank like most others, you think a 2ft tank is huge until you realise its still very limiting, id start off with 2ftx1ftx1ft or something around that size, you can have a nice little community in a tank like that
