you got to love some fish shops and there great advice :blink: You really need to have it cycling for at least 3 weeks.... However you say you have another tank in the house, take some media out of its filter and plonk it in the new one if you can. That should speed things up :good:

so ok its a young fish, either way buddy i would quaranteen it as im sure u have many other lovely discus. The main issue is the fact its bloated, and if it is young strong fish this could be a type of swim bladder. Good luck

just feed them first at dinner time! But yes u probably wont have many plants left, as for the other fish u should be fine, they are still quite small and usually grow up well with various species.

unfortunately its not sounding good. The only thing i would do is place him in a q t with good oxygen and a full dose of melafix. . Carry on dosing daily. . Is this fish young? I knw u had him 3 mnths but it may be old, as i had a fish for many years and old age got the better of him. (i think)...

What tim says is probably right. For instance my catfish (i know you have an eel) took at least a week if not longer before he settled in. Its not till i got his shelter just right that he started feeding. Even now tho i never see him eat. But they do. Get him some nice cover and time to chill...
