Poised To Set-up And Heavily Plant - A Few Questions Please!

It appears from the website that : "PLANT NUTRITION+ liquid is suitable for aquariums with many plants in relation to the number of fish, where plants can lack nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) which otherwise would be supplied by fish excrement and food remnants. PLANT NUTRITION+ liquid...

Poised To Set-up And Heavily Plant - A Few Questions Please!

I was making my assumption on these 2 threads that seem to suggest that if you're running decent lighting, CO2 AND plant heavily from the outset then traditional fishless cycling i.e. ammonia is unnecessary. It all seems a bit confusing and the subject of mass debate...

    T5 Lighting Tube Advice Please!

Thanks for your reply. If I were to purchase one of these Compact units http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?...products_id=399 which appears to be made of 2 tubes each 21", does it total 55W as I suspect or is each of the small tubes that make up the unit 55w giving 110w total? I think...

    T5 Lighting Tube Advice Please!

    Proposed new planted set-up is 4’ (L) x 18â€￾ (W) x 22â€￾ (H) - 75 gallons. Currently have 2 twin 46" T5 fittings of 54w each giving a total of 108W = 1.4wpg. 1) Am I correct that for good plant growth I should really have 3 twin T5 fittings to give 3 x 54w =162w/75galls = 2.16 wpg? 2)...

Nice tank Joel - were your plants all ordered separately of your choice or did you go for a fixed 'collection'?

Substrate - Ada Aquasoil \ Tropica Substrate.

Proposed new planted set-up is 4’ (L) x 18â€￾ (W) x 22â€￾ (H) - 75 gallons\338 litres approx, hardwater area. 1) I'm assuming 3" to 4" total substrate is required? 2) ADA : Can you confirm that Aquasoil is the top layer (i.e. your 'gravel') and Power Sand Special is your base nutrient layer...

    Which Pressurized Co2 System?

Voo - everything is in the planning stage at the moment, tank will hold around 350l. So if you bought a non JBL system and wanted to refill at Maidenhead, you'd have to buy a JBL bottle (obviously at extra cost thus rendering your original bottle obsolete) or would a JBL bottle not fit a non...

    Which Pressurized Co2 System?

    1) Which brand of pressurized CO2 system do you guys recommend for use in the UK? Are some better than others or are they all much the same? 2) From what I have read on here, if I understand correctly, getting the cylinders filled can be a bit of an issue. Should one therefore find out what...

    Branded Fertilisers

The EI method sounds great but I don't think I could do the 50% water changes weekly, so...... Which branded fertiliser regimes are viewed to be the best as the choice is bewildering! ADA, Dennerle, Seachem or Tropica? Any advice welcome please.

Newb Advice Needed Getting Started With A Fully Planted Tank.

Does anyone know how long the ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia would be effective in reducing the pH from say 8.6 down to somewhere in the region of pH 6.8? Presumably it's effectiveness would decrease over time and then what? Do you have to completely strip down or is there an alternative route?
