I agree with you all on the price of shipping. It seems as if it is my only option. Every local lfs sales fish in really bad condition. I really feel for the people that buy just getting into the hobby.

All my LFS carry fish that are far from being healthy. I hate this, because people should have to pay good money for sick fish. So my question is, should I consider ordering fish? And is ordering better in any way? Thanks-

How do I add tank mates? Without them ending up on the menu... Also, I really dont know how it will take to them seeing it hasnt had contact with other fish for awhile.

Fish is a good 5-6inches long. Ammonia 0 Nitrate 5 nitrite 0 Water changes weekly Feeds twice a day Hikari cichlid pellets It hasnt done it as much today but yeah..... UM.... Also its been attacking the back of them tank? Any reason why?

Ok most of the time my oscar is swimming calm.... then all of a sudden it just jets off to another spot of the tank. Like as if it where shocked by something. What is this behavior? And should I be worried?

How do you introduce new tank mates? I was thinking the same thing about either a bichir or a ropefish.

I want to try some crikets. Im not a fan of the feeders.... wouldnt wanna risk it. I was just wondering as I know alot of people use them. And some dont even remove the fish from the bag with a net, they just poor the water in the tank with the feeders.

Ok, Im not really into feeder fish and as far as I know they dont have alot of nutrition.... but I know alot of people are into doing it. How do you know if the feeder that you are feeding your fish doesnt have a disease or parasite? Or do alot of people just put trust into their lfs? This is...

UPDATE Finally had a chance to get a shot of it, as its been coming out and everything. I think its at the point to where it knows who I am. LoL But so far its doing well! :)

Ok, this is the best shot I got of it, as it is sorta shy. It'll come out when Im not looking or not around. Also it occasionally flicks its pelvic fins, is this normal? Ill try and get more pics as it comes out.

Thanks all! And I will try to get them soon. Its about 6 inches, so it got pretty big in there. Its pelvic fins look so beautiful as they have that long stringy tip ends on them. And its an tiger oscar btw.

Nah, this was like a pool that they let go down. Like they dont use it anymore. So no.... it had tree branches, leaves, and even a chair in it. I take back what I said about there being no life, I recall seeing mosquito larvae in it. Couldnt see to the bottom, so dirty...so I had no idea how...

What Im saying it that my tank has been dry empty. No gravel or anything. The gravel is probley dry itself, as its been in a bucket since I emptied the tank. Im going to pour hot boiling water over the gravel. Will this kill the remaining ick if any are left?

Ok, so I completely emptied my tank. Gravel included. I have the gravel in a bucket. I was thinking of pooring hot boiling water over it (What I used to do with nematodes)Will this kill the ich. The tank is dry and so are the plants/decor/ex... Will drying everything else kill it as well?

Yeah.... I have two Wal*Marts near me and one stopped selling fish years ago. The other just stopped this year.

I know your pain... And whats worse is almost all places that sale fish have ich these days. At least where Im at. My local petstores arnt as bad, but unlike most that just buy the fish, I sit and watch them at the store. Eventually Ill see some showing symptoms of ich (scratching, flicking)...
