I bought a small incandescent strip light for my 2.5 gal betta setup. This is my first time using anything incandescent, and I've discovered the light bulb gives off a fugly yellowish light. 1) Are all incandescents this ugly? 2) Can I use a screw-in flourescent with my incandescent strip?

Has anyone tried disinfecting with either hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol? You'd think these would be better than bleach because peroxide will react with oxygen to form water (or something like that... I just know its eventually water) and the alcohol would evaporate quickly, making...

Really? Strange... what store is that? Online, at thatpetplace.com, they list 2.5 and 5.5 gals at $9.49 and 10 gals at $9.99. At my LFS all 3 tanks are about the same price as well.

You could just get a regular tank, anywhere from 2.5 to 10 gallons for around $10. Small tanks are very cheap (comparatively). Or you could always shop around at garage sales and the like.

Simple poll about where your bettas usually come from. Edit: The poll didn't post because apparently i'm inept. Where do you usually buy your bettas? Breeders, online stores, national chain (walmart, petsmart, etc), local pet/fish store? Or do you breed them yourself?

Hi all, I have a eclipse system 12 tank. The standard bulb is a 13W 5500K compact fluorescent. To replace it do I have to buy the specific replacement bulb from marineland? If not, what specifications on the bulb do I need to look for? Oh yea, the tank is fish only (artificial plants).
