i would personally rather buy the LR from a LFS type place. That way you can get it and take it home and stick it back in water as quick as possible. i got my (fully cured) for £8 a kilo, but it may be a bit far for you to travel (just off J20 M6, Warrington) it is good stuff and crawling...

no not used a closed loop, dont think the tank is big enough to use one. Ive used 2 seio 620's and the sump return. The sump return goes down the back and swirls round through a gap in my LR, i can see the flow from where the sand has moved to. maybe closed loop would be a space saver option...

i would personally still put a T peice in there anyway for fine tuning sake. even if the valve is shut, you still have the option to fiddle. Better than having to add it after everything is running.

i wouldnt put a ball valve in line with your return, its likely to shorten the life of your pump. Put a T piece in your return pipe back into your sump and put the valve on that. It will still allow you to control the flow without puting any stress on your pump. I use a eheim 1260, they are...

It must be a bit cramped in there with 30 Kilo of LR, my tank is same size and 20 Kilo was too much to get in the display tank without it looking too full. cant comment too much on your water as im still learning myself. good luck!

im still pretty new to all this, but id buy the second one, look at everything your getting. Halide, chiller, skimmer etc.. only thing tho if you can see the temp on the chiller how do you know what temp its set at ???? trial and error ? could take a while.
