Your best bet is to take them back to the fish store, they will be better off there, because your tank is not cycled, with your tank not being cycled, taking them back to the fish store will acctually save their lives. Then while you are there pick up a freshwater testing kit. And keep coming...

Ya know, its funny you mention brown alge. I have some of that now and I never had that before. Is this a good thing? Oh and I just did a 30-40 % water change. So, keep lights off and wait?

Thats what I figure too, but how long is too long to keep a filter cartrige in a 25 gallon (US) tank? BTW it is a Whisper Filter.

Sorry to hear about your fish :( Do you have any water movement in the tank? Particulary on the surface? I have heard that one of the causes of the fish at the surface like you describe is lack of oxegen. Have you done a water change lately? I use a "bubble wand" as I call it to keep movement...

Thank you Anna :) I did a 40ish % water change today. I cleaned off most of the ornaments(let a little alge for heatlhy bacteria) and siphoned most areas of the gravel. Afterwards you would not belive the difference. My fish were swimming around like crazy!!! Just like how my dogs go nutzo...

I really want to know though, is it ok to do this cleaning in the tank? Will I disrupt anything? Also can you help me with my question on dechlorination? please :):D:):D

Maybey there is something out there you can buy that will "seal" the rust to make sure it wont get into your tank water. Just in case, before you buy a new one. I would deffinatly write the company though lol GL! :)
