    Aggressive Penguin Tetra

I have 4 hockey stick tetras in my 40g tank.. 1 is larger than the others - was the only one of my previous group to survive a heater malfunction. He basically now rules the tank.. He likes to nip all the other fish, and only lets certain fish into the middle of the tank. He thinks it's his...

    Guppies With Dropsy

I don't know about furan.. I have some anti bacterial food.. Maybe I should try that for a few days.. I stopped feeding them frozen bloodworms as I thought that might have something to do with them being constipated/having dropsy.. They like to munch algae wafers, and I crunch up seaweed for...

    Guppies With Dropsy

I don't test the water ever as I've always done frequent water changes.. Feed em flakes Scales were sticking out I couldn't tell you about their poop I did notice some reddish coloring around their behind.. Haven't lost fish to bent spines Fish don't swim on their sides 1 of the fish I...

    Jellybean Parrots?!?!

I wouldn't put one in a tank under 33g. They are generally aggressive, so shouldn't be in community tanks.. If you get 2 males, they will probably fight, if you get a male and female, they may breed.. They're only compatible with similar tempered cichlids.. The size of your tank is very...

    Guppies With Dropsy

I have a 10g with couple guppies left in it.. Bought some fish from someone locally, brought dropsy into the tank, and now my guppies are dying 1 by 1.. I tried using epsolm salts, without success... Really not sure what else I can do.. I have snails in the tank, so I cant use anything that...

    Need A Couple Bottom Dwellers

We don't often get quality rams around here.. It's quite risky buying them, as they usually die pretty quickly. I do have a bristlenose pleco, but he doesn't really count as he spends most of his time munching driftwood. I think I will go with cories.. Couple different kinds, then add some...

    Need A Couple Bottom Dwellers

The only kind of loaches we get around here are yo yo loaches (I think).. I am quite interested in snails, so loaches of any kind probably wont work for me. Someone local is selling blue and pink ramshorn snails, so I'll have to pick up a couple of each and let them multiply.. I just don't...

    Sick Glo-lites

Ahhh.. That makes sense.. I finished the 5 day medication cycle.. 3 of the 5 are still alive, and are sympton free. No more yucky white under their skin. So I guess the treatment was successful to a point. Have to do a 40% change today to get the meds out of the water. Thanks for your help...

    Sick Glo-lites

They were dull at the store.. I have a feeling they had just come in.... I don't ever check my parameters.. I do more than enough water changes to have to worry.. I did a 40% before I put the first ones in, 40% the next day as they all had died, another 40% a few days later when I got the new...

    Sick Glo-lites

I've had horrible luck with glo lites lately.. Bought 6, they all died overnight.. Was given 6 more, within 24 hours their bodies were very white. It appears to be under the skin, so I'm thinking bacterial.. At the same time, I wonder if it might be some sort of weird fungus. I bought some...

    Old Betta Going Blind?

I don't think I'm going to treat it.. I'm quite sure it's not any type of disease/sickness. He's been acting like a weirdo, but he does still come up to the glass when I feed him, and he does eat.

    Old Betta Going Blind?

I have a betta that's pushing 4 years.. His eyes have recently become quite cloudy, and I'm not sure he can see anymore.. The water stays clean, so I don't see it as some sort of illness-type thing.. Is this common with older bettas?

Thinking Of Setting Up A Dwarf Cichlid Tank

    Alleni Crawfish Sexing..

Here's the deal.. We have a female alleni that has had 2 broods so far.. All the fry have turned out to be females.. She has another brood going right now.. The eggs just hatched, and she has tons of little buggers attached to her. I'm wondering if water temperature or something like that is...

I used to keep bettas in jars... I had way too many... now I only keep as many as I can put into at least 1g tanks. Although I do have one that is probably only .75 gallons.. Their water stays very clean, and they do quite well. Ideally I'd get a 20g long tank and divide it up for most of...

    Bacteria In A Bottle

I don't think it really does anything to a tank with an already established biological colony.. I know some people add it every time they do water changes just to be safe. Personally, I use it in the first maybe month of setting up a tank. After that, I don't see the need.

    Is This Healthy?

Some people believe that obviously.. Personally I don't think it's an ideal life for a betta. I have seen it done a few times, but mostly in places like dentists/drs offices.. Places like that. I wouldn't do it!!

    Couple Pics

I've got mostly 1g or 2g tanks for the males. They get about half the water changed every few days, then a few days later I do a 100% cleaning. The bettas will be fine with the crawfish.. I wouldn't have put them in there if I wasn't positive they would be.

    Sorority Tank Questions...

Can be interesting with female bettas. I'm sure everyone has had different experiences. I have 3 currently in a 40g tank. Lots of room for each of them but occasionally they do some nipping. It's kinda bound to happen when you're dealing with female bettas. Just make sure nobody is getting too...
