This is what I do when I see "Flashing". I ck the water prams. Ph most of all. If all is good there than I use Tank Buddies Parisite Clear. Has worked for me when my tetra's and Gourami's flashed. No need to raise temp. Helps to prevent secondary infection and doesn't harm bio-filter. Helps...

I thought that using anything but epison salt would make things worse. Regular salt is not recommened for use with bloating. Only Epison Salt. This could be a internal parisite also. So I would look into this. It also could be a bacterial infection as stated. I would treat for both.

I feed dried bloodworms and frozen bloodworms and flake food. frozen brineshrimp is good also. Just make sure you change up on the diet alternating days and what you feed. Your lfs should have frozen food and live food there too.

It is recommened to treat ich for 21 days total. Just because the spots are gone only means that they are in the cyst stage, they are on the bottom of the tank. They will hatch into the free swimming stage or tomite, it is at this stage and only at this stage that meds and salt are effective...

If the filter media was without a food sorce and oxygen the you can be pretty sure the bacteria was dead. The bio-spira works very well. I know that for sure after trashing my bio-filter with Malichite Green. I used that stuff and it worked in about three days. :good:

This sounds like it is internal, adding regular salt or aquruim salt will not help. If it is internal and is not dropsy then you could try epsom salt as this is used for bloating.

I have two Aqua Clear filters. Take the impellar out and clean off the metal part by scrapping it. This metal needs to be cleaned every two to three months. The motor works like a genrator and has a magnetic effect on the impellar, that is what makes it go round.

My water here in Indianapolis is very nasty from the tap so I have to use RO water in my tank. I use the kind from the store out of a water machine. 40 cents per gal.

I have two dwarf gourami's and they do not like flake food but they love the frozen foods like brine shrimp and blood worms. The also enjoy algea tabs that I feed to my pleco.

Do you use tap water? if so then have you checked you phospate level as a high level will cause this problem.
