Bumblebee gobies would be great as you could have quite a few, they should be pretty active too. Just make sure they have plenty of hiding places to stop them fighting over territory.

The key phrase there is "well established tanks" - which won't apply to beginners.

They've only been in the tank 24 hours so I'm not sure they've established territories yet. There are moments of peace. The male will creep up on the female and sometimes nudge her then chase her and sometimes will be quite affectionate. I'll be keeping a close eye on them I think.

Unless your willing to introduce some CO2 I'd suggest sticking with plastic / silk plants too. You'll have a hard time getting plants to thrive otherwise. Plus there are some very good fake plants available these days.

Just one more word of advice: If you're keeping your fish food in your beer fridge, just be careful if you're having a bit of a session. Although beer into the fish tank would not be good, a mouthful of mosquito larvae has to be worse!!! :sick:

I've just had a thought - do dying plants produce ammonia? There are a couple of plants in my tank (brackish) that are starting to die. I was going to leave them in there as I am getting a CO2 fermenter early next week. Could they be the problem?

The caves are little terracotta pots from a "Pot-Man" that I cut up. There are also some plumbing tubes as well. The plastic angled pipe is cool, it goes into the sand under the mangrove root and pops out at the front. There are 2 F8 puffers and 4 bumblebee gobies. It's a 30 gallon tank.
