Want a community tank, will start off with some guppies, swordtails, mollies and then add some gouramis, rainbows, tetras and anything else that catches my eye. Want some clown loaches, are they ok for a new tank? Sue

I am in the middle of cycling my tank, I had green algae growing so cut the lights down from 11 hours to 8. Now the algae has turned brown, and of course there are no fish at the moment to munch it. You say increase the lights.....won't that take me back to having the green stuff?

I am on day 18 of a fishless cycle. 216 litre tank. I did a 50% water change around day 12 as the ammonia was 0 and nitrite almost 0. Then the nitrite shot up againto 5.00. Has been slowly coming down to day 17, and nitrate rising. Then I dropped the ammonia drops down to 3.00ppm. Tested this...

Hi there, I live in a hard water area, and have tested the ph of the tap water (left 24 hours) and it was 8.8 I want to have a community tank, and this is a bit high. I am about to set up my tank and do a fishless cycle, tank holds 216 litres. Now, I keep getting ideas from everyone...
