Fish cruelty at its best... or maybe worst

My local aquarium shop is wonderful, he keeps the bettas in proper 15 or so gallon tanks with other suitable fish, none are in small cups. I only ever buy from him, he cares deeply about their welfare.

    What's your opinion on sororities?

If I were to go down that route it would be at least 90 litres, lots of Java fern and anubias.

    What's your opinion on sororities?

Right, thank you all for the advice. As much as I'd love to have some colourful koi girls, I won't keep them together if it's possible they could stress out or their tank mates could negatively affect them. I appreciate the help! This stuff is really good to know. :) Stay safe and have a lovely day!

    What's your opinion on sororities?

After keeping male bettas this year and becoming more confident with them, I would really like to keep more than one at a time, that's when I started researching betta sororities. I'd love to keep 5 or 6 females, obviously in a larger tank with live plants and wood. But all the research I've...

    Betta breathing very heavy

I did do some research on the product, so I only used it every couple of days and diluted the solution. He perked right up, and is now healthy and happy once again. Thank you all so much.

    Betta breathing very heavy

Hey sorry for the late reply. I just biked down to get him some antibacterial medicine, there was no methylene blue but I got something similar. He doesn't take any pauses, just big breaths continuously. Like how you might breath after running a race.

Oh god alright, I'll go down now and get him some. I'd have to walk so do you think he'd last another hour? Poor guy.

Thank you :) I'll have a look at my local fish shops. Thanks for the tip, I always try and make the water as close as possible.

    Betta breathing very heavy

He didn't want to come up for air so his fins aren't as spread out as I'd like them to be for the picture but I hope this helps

I know he's a yellow tiger galaxy, but that isn't very helpful sorry. I'll get some good pictures now.

    Betta breathing very heavy

Thank you for the help! What signs show that he has fin rot if you don't mind me asking? His fins have always been very small and there aren't any dark/damaged areas on his fins. I thought those were the only signs of fin rot. So I'd love to know any other signs that might help me identify it...

    Betta breathing very heavy

That is a good point, but I've had constipated bettas before and they never looked like him now. He isn't bloated or has a swelled stomach. He has a variety of foods and fibre to keep things moving. I should rephrase my statement "I assume he isn't consipated"

    Betta breathing very heavy

Ok thank you, I hope it doesn't come to that. I'll monitor him closely.

ive never actually seen him poop, but I know he’s not constipated. His scales look fine, none are sticking out. I’ll fast him today :)

    Betta breathing very heavy

He’s been like this for the past couple of days, he stays at the bottom of the tank and breathes very heavily, only going up for air. He still eats, which is good. Today he is sitting under the filter almost vertical, his tail end drops down. He can still swim fine, but I’m really worried. Any...
