Seriously? You need to research animals before you buy them. Anemones are difficult to keep for even experienced marine keepers. Whatsizeis your tank, how long have you had it, what else is in it?

The mushies will be fine out of water for a while so do it out of water. Try to make sure you don't burst the bubble's but if you do rinse the rock in some tank water in a container before putting it back into the tank :good:

The first one is a kind of star polyp. The green bubbly thing is valonia bubble algae, needs' to be removed, and preferably outside the tank as they can burst and release hundreds of sppores which develop and take over tanks very quickly. Just twist them off, carefully so as not to burst them...

Truck, As for salt, all brands have their good and bad points, but I have found Instant Ocean to be a good consistent salt. Fish wise, the flame hawk is a brilliant fish and full of character, mine sits on the tunze stream clip and watches everything I do. I also have a pair of perc's, a 6 line...

Hi Tracey, there are a fair few people up here now. I keep marine, but have had loads of tropical experience(I had over 25 tanks running at one time) You are right though, the thing's available now are very different to what was around 20 years ago!!

What sort of cash are you looking to spend, I know someone with a large eheim tank for sale that is definitely more than 4 foot!! Edit to say its 4'6"x2'x2', and about 500 litres approx.

It's a sign that you should get rid of all the tropical tanks and get your marine one set up properly Chris!! I thought you had sold a load of tanks anyway?

How can a temperature difference so big that it can kill (only one) fish happen in any house is beyond me, I guess there is another underlying problem which caused the death.

Chris, DO NOT USE TAPWATER FOR YOUR MARINE TANK!! Told you before to use only RO water, it's just not worth the risk. There are plenty of people who can give you RO water up here, yo ujust need to ask.

Jenny, the galaxia should be fine IF you have it in an area of low flow. That way the sweeper tentacles won't be able to reach so much and damage them.

Jason, I have had both, and I can honestly say that marine tanks are no more difficult to look after than freshwater tanks if you plan them to make it as easy as possible for yourself. Buying quality equipment the first time round helps a lot, I gave up 25 malawi cichlid tanks for 1 marine tank...

Lizzie, first of all try feeding them with live foods to encourage them to come into breeding condition. Then when they colour up, seperate them into another tank and let them take it from there.

£50 is a joke offer right? From what I have read here you should be looking at about double that to get rid of all at once! Maybe worth trying your local pet/fish shop to see if they woul trade them in for something you want to keep, i'm sure they will give you £50 at the very least. Come on...

It took me a few weeks to get a reply to a question that I asked Will, but he did answer. Try emailing him to see if he responds to that quicker? Rocknurworld has a point though, mods should be able to rise above things like this, after all isn't that why they are chosen as mods in the first place?

Shaun, where do you live? There is probably someone near you that can help!! The best thing you can do is to take the fish back to the shop you bought them from. Please don't think that people are having a go at you for this, they just care about the life in their (and your) tank.

I have found it takes someone to bite the bullet and suggest a meeting place (house/shop/wherever) and then open it up top the masses. It would be easier if there was a dedicated section on the forum for national meetings etc.

Get a bigger one, the GPH quoted are US gallons. Even allowing for that, how are you going to collect water for water changes with a small unit? I would get a couple of water containers, camping places sell 25 litre ones for about £10 each.

You work in an lfs and don't think price varies that much :rolleyes: Thats like saying you charge the same price for all kinds of tangs or angelfish, and we all know that doesn't happen anywhere. I have seen buckets of salt priced between £45 and £60 online, and even more than that in some shops.
