looks like it's an aftermarket filter. Not aqueon brand. I don't know if 30 means 30 gallon... But I stuffed my piece of filter I had floating in a spare tank inside and got it up and running

Well I also have a sheet of filter I added to the tank to give some extra surface area for bacterial growth. I could grab that and stick it into the aqueon filter. I don't know what type it is since I got it second hand off facebook marketplace

Aah I tried putting a bit of filter in the tip and it sucked it through and got plugged. I still have it. I unplugged it but rated it as not worth the effort. Is it better than sponge filtration? Or will using two really keep tank better?

And would you think another school like a honey gourami would work at all since they are fin nippers? I have been trying to do my research but it's best to just ask the stupid questions outright haha

It's rated for a 20 to 40 gallon tank. I invested in a high power air pump. Since I'm new to the hobby I don't know what an HOB is. Is it better? I went with sponge cause the other over the rim aqueon filter sucked up a few of my smaller fish and I never wanted that to happen again.

I have an air pump powered underwater sponge hyggers filtration system. Interesting. Thanks for the advice. I will go with cardinal tetras then. How many do you think I could fit without dangers of overstocking. Considering a heavily planted well filtered and maintained tank? Also.. are...

It's a 29 gallon. I've been watching.. the black skirts leave them alone. They seem very happy thus far. And the corys stick to the bottom... I was thinking of getting some neon tetras to school as well to add a bit of blue to the tank.

so .. I've got completely edible wild plants/herbs growing around the house. Integra and miners lettuce. So for my aquascape I'm going to be,. Shrimp and CO2

Basically the 1000 ppm is on the back of the bottle. they translate it as VERY HARD. it makes sense since I live on a ranch. I don't know, there might be some contamination from the CO2 system. I think I had some splashes from the reaction into the piping from my shaking of the bottles. It might...

    Shrimp and CO2

So. I am a beginner level aquarist trying to set up my first 29 gallon tank. I have been cycling my tank for 8 days now and decided to throw in 4 amano shrimp and 5 cherry shrimp to rid the tank of the algae present. Levels are a pH of 7.5; alkilinity of 300 ; Total hardness of 1000; Nitrites...
