    Sodastream Adapter

Hi I have 2 sodastream adapters. Both have very small holes which appear to go through the side and through to the screw thread. When the co2 bottle is attached the gas leaks out of this hole. The hole must be there for a reason but I can't see how to fix the problem. Can someone help. Thsnks

    Amazon Sword Algae?

Hi it has been a while as the black algae has returned to the Amazon Sword. I have a 240L tank and the swords are at the back of the tank. There are only a few leaves that are affected but I guess it will spread. I hope the photo will help solve the problem Thanks

I am considering getting an air pump to use when the light is dimming and off during the night. I have read many articles about this with many different views. As with everything there are many out there all of them supposedly quiet!! Can anyone recommend a good silent pump? Thanks.

    Digital water testers.

Hi I have been looking at digital water testing devices and like everything else there are many out there. At the moment I am using the JBL water testing solutions. This seems OK but can be difficult to determine the correct colour. Are digital testers more accurate and are there any that test...

    Brown Algae!

I posted photos of the algae in my tank can anyone help to identify it. The colour seems to go from a light brown to dark brown. If I use a brush it is impossible to scoop up all the floating bits they sink to the substrate. If these attach to plants rock or wood will they continue to grow.

    To Shrimp or not?

Hi I am 10 days into cycling the aquarium. I am seeing some algae growth. I do not know what it's called but it is a stringy type. It is mainly on the wood. I am adjusting the lighting and do water changes every other day. I have read that in tanks that are cycling algae growth is common? I was...

Bottled ammonia? Can this be any household ammonia? I imagine there are different strengths? I have looked at the calculator which will be a help.

    Hello to one and all.

I have recently restarted my fishkeeping hobby. I actually began over 25 years ago (yes, I know)! What with the job and having to move house 20 times it was impossible to look after the tank. So, I am practically a NEWBIE. Things have moved on somewhat. My current tank holds 240L, has an...
