Has anyone kept these? I got one yesterday its about 1 inch long and i :wub: him but would like some more info can anyone help?

I was at one of my LFS's yesterday collecting my royal pleco ( who is georgious) and saw some Killifish. I really liked them but the LFS said they would not go very well with my large shoal of neons (31) or my shoal of nine Glass Catfish. Everything I have read seems to point to this being...

thing is it isnt a holding tank. Its their main display tank because i asked.

I went to a partsmart to get some cat food the othe day and thought id have a look at the fish. I saw their display tank had quite a large firemouth in a comunity tank with neons, glass catfish, mollies, and bala sharks. Is this Wise i would have thought that the firemouth would eat the neons etc??

I just wanted some info on these fella's. What sort of sie do they get and would they be ok in a comuity tank? Cheers everyone

yeh quite often see them in Essex. £79 is the cheapest ive seen

yep the orange one is a red zebra, U need to make sure your ph is constant and preferably around 8-8.2 otherwise those colours on the Malawi's will fade. The red zebra isnt particularly aggressive but will still attack your gourami's etc

dragonslair- what else do u have in that 5 foot tank? or is it just neons? those 53 must look excellent:)

TBH i would with what u have in there already you are pretty much full. And with theat knife fish you will end up with very little left if u keep it in there. Oh and the knife fish that u have grows to aprox 50 cm.

Dont flush it PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE Ive allways wanted one but cant fit too many more tanks in my house at present. Take it back to your LFS and say that u brought this under miss guidance on size. Worst case scenario just give it back to them.

i may be wrong but those clown knives get big. Too big for the 32 gallon. Oh and they will eat any fish small enough to fit in their mouths

good ideas guys I have two more tanks anyway one 24x12 x12 which is my quarenteene tank# and a spare 24x 12 x12 so i should be ok

i have a large surface plant on one side and a little slate bits i wanted to try and keep it simple unlike my malawi tank.

My water paramaters are slightly hard and a ph of 7

Cheers for the welcome Yeh it was cycled for four weeks. It has an external ehiem filter and a internal fluval jobbie. The water parameters are all coolio at the moment but i will check every day just in case. How many neons would you go for? And any other sugestions? Thanx again

ive never kept neons and i think 20 seems too few but when my glass catfish come along they dart out the way then reform. My tank just seems so empty :(

How big do they get though? I heard they would eat little fish?

shame as the tank is set up already with small round gravel so that counts those out :(

In order to bring out the colour of my fish especially my neons)? I have a two bulb hood

i currently have all in 1 male 2 female yellow labs johanni's auratus cynotopia afra ( 12 young ones as well) venustus Moori's

i had a breeding pair of the eye biters(the name makes them sound evil which they are not) but when the male is ready to breed the colouration is superb

i only seem to be able to breed Cynotopia Afra though. Although thats not a problem because they are my :wub:

Oh and as you will all probably see from all my Q's in the main forums i have loads of Q's to Ask Cheers Guys :wub:
