    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

Here are some more pictures of my Mystery Snail.... I'm hoping it is not an Apple Snail... Here are some close ups of my Golden Mystery Snail (hopefully not an Apple Snail?). She is pretty big...I would say her shell is probably close to 1 1/2" in diameter? What are your thoughts? Mystery? Or...

Added New Fish to my 55 Gallon Tank Today!!!

I have been waiting over three weeks for fish (Harlequin Rasboras) that I ordered through my LFS, but they have been unable to get the quantity that I wanted... I ordered 20 so I could have a good sized school, but they just can't seem to get that many in at a time. So I decided to get what I...

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

Yes, unfortunately...Their poop is pretty big!!! LOL:p But is easy to see on my sand bottom and siphon out. I do weekly water changes, and make sure to clean the tank well. They are so worth it!!! They are pretty and fascinating to watch!

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

Whoa!!! She is Huge!!! My Golden Mystery Snail is not that big, but she is not far behind!

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

My Golden Mystery Snail is also HUGE and almost twice as big as my other two snails. They were all the same size when I brought them home three weeks ago, but the golden one, "Sandy" grew so fast it was crazy!! I read that the females are much larger than males, so maybe she is a female and my...

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

They do breed, but lay their eggs ABOVE water, which is very unique when it comes to snails..They usually lay their eggs in the water. So unless you have a few inches of glass above the water line for them to lay their eggs on, they will probably not reproduce....But if there is space on the...

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

I agree!! They are very entertaining.. I am pretty sure my snails are Mystery Snails and not Apple Snails because in three weeks, there has been not one sign of them munching on plants... Fingers crossed that it stays that way!:)

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

Hopefully they will continue to "behave" themselves and stay away from my plants because I have grown pretty fond of them. :)

    I Love Mystery Snails!!!

Okay, so this is something that I never thought that I would say...But, I think I love snails, especially Mystery Snails!! I added three Mystery Snails to my aquarium three weeks ago and I am "hooked"! Watching them glide gracefully around the tank is absolutely fascinating.. I love to watch...

    Northern Gray Tree Frog

Small moths, spiders, mites, ants, small beetles and flies are best for a tree frog that size... Unless the crickets and grasshoppers are tiny, they are probably too big for a tree frog that size...But it may be a few days before the frog feels relaxed enough to eat, especially if it is injured...

    Northern Gray Tree Frog

In my experience, amphibians get stressed out when in a new environment, and won't eat until they feel comfortable. Plus, if it is injured (even if it is minor), this causes stress as well. Also, crickets and grasshoppers might be too big for it to eat. How big is the frog? Most tree frogs...

Vote Now!.....August 2020 Tank of the Month Contest (30 US gallons and larger)

This is my 55 gallon planted aquarium. It was set up about 3 to 4 months ago. I did a fishless cycle and then added live plants. Filtration: 2 HOB Marineland Penguin Bio Wheel Filters - Modified to include filter floss/sponge and Bio Media as well as peices of lava rock. Lights: 2 LED light...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Agreed!!! Unless it is a child's tank and the fairy castle is nestled among live plants! LOL :D ... Or if the castle is a LOTR castle like in @Retired Viking 's Tank! I'm a huge fan of LOTR, so I can make an exception in that case. ;)

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Not much to "Roast"... I'm not a huge fan of fake decorations in a tank, but I can live with the skull... and the plant looks more reddish then anything? If so, that is fairly natural as some live plants can be reddish in color. What I can't stand is Neon Pink gravel, or bright Orange plants...

    Hurricane

I didn't realize you had so many tanks... Yes, a generator (average sized) would not be able to handle that many tanks, plus electrical appliances... Good luck! Hopefully you wont loose power at all, and wont have to worry about it.

    Hurricane

Do you have a generator, or have access to one? Several years ago, we had an intense thunderstorm with powerful down drafts that took out trees and power lines. It was like a tornado went through our area. We were without power for almost a week. We borrowed a generator from a family member...

    New Guppy Help

Also, if you have live plants in your tank, they will help quite a bit by "feeding" off of the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates, and help to reduce their concentrations. If you don't have live plants in your tank, I highly recommend you add some...especially floating tanks like Water Sprite or...

    New Guppy Help

It is recommended that a fishless cycle be performed and then add fish, but since you already have fish in the tank, you will need to perform frequent water changes to eliminate the Ammonia and Nitrite. Check out the following thread on this Forum regarding Cycling your tank... I think you will...

    New Guppy Help

Daily water changes will not effect the beneficial bacteria (BB)..... The BB grows on surfaces in the tank...the substrate (gravel, etc.), Tank decor (driftwood, rocks and decorations), and in the filter and filter media. The BB are not present in the water itself, so water changes will not...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Ok, my turn.... Neon or brightly colored gravel and plants are hideous and should be banned from the Pet Trade!! Sorry if you have Pink, Orange, or Purple gravel and plants, and I have offended you... Actually, no, not sorry!! Lol... Gravel and plants should look natural, and not be Techno...

    Just not loving it

I would love to do the same thing some day! Right now I have a standard black plastic tank lid with built in LED lights...so it would only be possible to have plants growing out of the tank of I were to cut a whole in it and I don't think it would look very good. Eventually I would like to buy...
