Yes it would. Keeping gourami together are not a good idea especially pairs as their mating procedure is a bit violent. You only have space for one anyway.

Thanks for the info. :) My tetra don't mess with the gourami, she can hold her own despite her size and they tend to stay well away from her especially during feeding. She's not a tyrant though as they still feel comfortable enough to chase each other around.
