Time to flood the tank? Dry Start Method

ooo that's interesting--If it is a scam then I must have my hands on a miracle because this is almost 2.5 weeks after submersion! Growing like weed and I cant get it to stop! Excuse the massive algae bloom on the glass--showed up nearly overnight and is definitely the result of overlighting but...

Time to flood the tank? Dry Start Method

Hi there! I've been using the dry start method in my 40 gallon breeder for only 14 days from seed until now, and as you can see I have a crazy amount of growth. I believe I used one package of montecarlo seeds and the rest is random "aquarium grass" seeds from Amazon. Well this morning I went to...

Are these ADF eggs in my tank?

Oh really? That would be interesting! Definitely came in with the plants, then. Guess I'll have to stand by and see :)

Are these ADF eggs in my tank?

I was thinking perhaps they had them before and laid them now, yes, but I agree it's not nearly enough and it doesn't make sense that they ended up in the gravel. Another possibility is that perhaps some snail eggs snuck into the tank through some plants? Hmm--I'll keep an eye on them because I...

Are these ADF eggs in my tank?

Hello there! I just got two ADFs (that I believe are both females) and added them to a newly cycled tank 2 days ago. Today I noticed some strange egg-like objects in the gravel today. The only thing is that I know that ADFs usually lay eggs hundreds at a time, and I've only found about 10 of...

Molly not giving Birth after 5.5 weeks?

Oh wow, really? I had heard it's only 4-6 weeks or every 28 days! I guess I'm in for a lot of fry then!

    Spiky moss question

Hmm I've never had spiky moss, but with Java moss you can totally just cut however much you want of it off. I cut it into pieces and then used a sewing thread to tie it against my hardscape--within 4 weeks it had completely attached to the rock and I was able to remove the thread altogether...

Molly not giving Birth after 5.5 weeks?

Hey everybody! I've had my Molly Pearl for a while now, she gave birth to her first brood (with me anyways) about 2 months ago, delivery was quick and she returned to being a happy little fish! 2-3 Weeks after the first pregnancy I noticed she was getting bigger again--That was 5 1/2 weeks ago...

Platinum/Creamsicle Lyretail Molly with tiny black spots?

Hello everyone! I've had the most amazing Platinum Lyretail Molly named Pearl for just over two months now. She has the biggest personality I've ever seen, if I get within 5 feet of the glass she comes up to me and...it sounds crazy but literally almost wags her tail in excitement like a dog...

    Rosy Cloud Rocks...Thoughts?

Jeez really???? Good thing it was only $13 thank god. I'm really surprised to hear that, I've been on sooo many fishkeeping forums that instruct to boil the wood beforehand just so it doesn't affect water color too much! Thanks for letting me know

    Rosy Cloud Rocks...Thoughts?

Great!! I will try that vinegar trick now, thanks. I have a pretty large piece of wood so I was told to boil it a few times (while soaking it in room temp water for 16 hours in between) to get rid of most of the tannins. HOWEVER, I was told if a fungus develops in between during soaks, to not...

    Rosy Cloud Rocks...Thoughts?

Hey all! I'm setting up a 10g nano tank right now and found these beauuuutiful looking rocks called "Rosy Cloud Rocks" from Petco, brought them home, rinsed them well in hot water and just plopped them in my tank. I'm really new to this hobby so I didn't even know that rocks can change pH and...

New to this...but this seems VERY wrong

I didn't say anything about it being wrong because I was trying to get her to reply--I just said "Hi I'm interested in the tank, but by any chance do you still have the fish?" Just to see if she'd bite and maybe I could see what the story is with them. She hasn't even opened the message though...

New to this...but this seems VERY wrong

Yeah I also thought so too--she has yet to reply to my message and I doubt she will. Another possibility is that she just kept them in there before cooking them? Seems like a weird thing to have a fish tank for though.

New to this...but this seems VERY wrong

I also was thinking it would have been impossible for them to grow that large in this tank, my theory is that they grew up somewhere else and were tossed in here once fully grown.

New to this...but this seems VERY wrong

Hey everyone! I started with small cheap betta tanks just a couple of months ago until I accidentally bought a molly who gave birth to 13 fry! Now I'm expanding in a major way. Anyways, I was searching for new tanks on OfferUp last night and I found this woman advertising a 10 gallon tank for...

Not sure if my new molly fry are eating?

Got it, will do. I literally just started owning fish a month ago and now it looks like I'm gonna have tanks all over my house if this Molly keeps giving birth!! Definitely not a bad thing though haha
