29 Gallon Tank, Aqua Clear 300 Ok?

I work part time at a pet store. A small independent one, not a chain. We have a reasonable aquatic department. We don't have a "commercial" sales tank system. Instead, we have about 60 ordinary tanks. Nearly half are 29 gallons. Some are 20 Longs. We also have a handfull of 37 gallon tanks. The...

    good names for guppy fry...

He wouldn't call them Chuck or Steve. He gives them names so he can keep track of them, he keeps a family history because he's seriously breeding. Exactly how is this confusing?

    good names for guppy fry...

As a friend who keeps a log would say Guppy1-Snakeskin - Male Neon Tetra 1 - Male Neon Tetra 2 - Female Black Neon Tetra 1 - Male Technically they all have names. They all have history. He just doesn't do things like give them human names, as they'd never know their own name and a name that...

what would you put in a 10,000g tank?

I'd put about a 800 white clouds to get it cycled. Then I'd fill it with about 3-4,000 more small fish. Probably two gallons per inch. They'd be very happy fish.

    Cross Breeding Guppies

Neon was the first thing that popped into my mind  ???? Seriously, it has to be a guppy. Why not a fancy? Exactly what would a feeder guppy bring to the table?

    Guppy Tank

You really can't go wrong with White Clouds... easiest to care for. Most tolerant. Not bad looking. I've got all males, as I'm not prepared to breed. White Clouds are less likely to eat their eggs, fry, unless they are super hungry. Raising white clouds is probably as easy or easier than guppies.

    Guppy Tank

Guppies don't handle cycling well. Get White Cloud Mountain Minnows. About 1 per 5 gallons will do the trick within 3-4 weeks. They do well in the unstable conditions. Solo they freak out. A pair or trio in a small tank makes things easier for them to cope with. Later on, they will not bother...

    Guppy Tank

My LFS tells me this. 1" per gallon for "average" fish, say Chichlids or Discus. For a "husky" fish probably more like 1.5-2 gallons per inch. Depends on how "husky" like goldfish are husky. If the fish is "petite" like a guppy or a tetra, you can get away with 1.5" per gallon, so long as you...

    Adjusting the filter

Sounds like a powerfilter to me by OP's description... guessing Hagen or Tetra, both of which can be adjusted... really, it is that simple... I try to not over complicate things.

can loud music hurt your fish

I'd guess yes, if it is loud, like over 90 decibels. Typical conversation is about 60 dB. Vacuum cleaner about 80 dB. When I used to work for a night club, we'd use a meter and go for 106 dB as the maximum at 5' from a speaker (I believe this is the legal limit). 106 db is loud! I'd wear ear...

    Live Bearers Hassle or Joy?

I've almost completely cycled my 1st tank, a 25 gallon. It will eventually be home to only Tetras and a few Rasboras. I have a 2nd 10 gallon tank as well. While I haven't started yet, I'd like to have guppies. It seems to me, guppies in particular are very horny and I fear lots of fry. My Tetra...

    Adjusting the filter

Doesn't matter what filter... power filters can generally be adjusted. Max most of the time. Min during feeding. Once their 5 minute feeding time is up, back to Max to suck up leftovers. It's just that simple.
