    Planted Tank

Does anyone have thoughts on getting a planted tank going? Once the basics are set up, what is advisable for lighting, ferts, etc? And does a glass top work with floating plants or should I remove it?

    Moving Fish

I have a goldfish that’s been in a tank for about 4 years, and I recently decided to upgrade to a larger tank. Does anyone have tips for moving larger fish like that to a new tank? Just want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Baby snails yet one parent ????😱

Yep. Same thing as livebearers, you buy one female guppy but even with no males in the tank, you get a bunch of fry because she already mated before you got her

Baby snails yet one parent ????😱

Ramshorns are hermaphrodites, but must have a male and female to reproduce. MTS, pond snails, etc, can reproduce asexually

    Guppy needs help!

Often, fish will not be affected by sickness in a healthy tank, even if there’s low levels of bacteria and such- but in the case of your fish, because she gave birth and therefore had a compromised immune system, she was not able to fight off the infection she normally would have been able to...

Baby snails yet one parent ????😱

If that singular ramshorn snail had been in contact with another before you added it to the bottle, even once it was placed in there by itself it would be able to lay viable eggs. Another option is that the plant you placed in there had a clutch of eggs on it, so the babies hatched once it was...

    Guppy needs help!

Are you able to share the specific parameters? “In range” is hard to go off of:) how long has the tank been set up? Was it cycled completely before you added fish?

    Your guys’s shops..

I just checked them out, they do seem extremely reasonable! What’s the shipping like? (Is there a reason to choose their website over eBay or vice versa?) Edit: upon further searching I don’t even see them on eBay, maybe they only sell on their website now?

    Plant cuttings

There’s a tank I’d like to use to grow it out in, but it has a sponge filter at the moment. If I were to do the floaty thing and keep it isolated to the non bubbles side, would it grow okay? Just curious.

    Plant cuttings

Okay! I have enough tanks that there’s more than one place I can put it 😆what filter do you have in the tank with duckweed?

    Plant cuttings

Ooh! Only other question is about water flow. Does it work with a hang on back filter? Just wondering if the tops of it gets splashed if it will rot.

Oh my!!! Does it grow alright for you under the glass top?

    Plant cuttings

Believe it or not I have nothing against duckweed lol. Most of my animals will eat it, so I couldn’t really have too much. Maybe just message me about it :)

    Plant cuttings

Hello! Inquiring about anyone “local” or at least in mailing distance of Ohio that would be interested in sending some plant cuttings or runners or whatnot. You’re “overstock” if you will. Looking for something that I can get to provide cover for fry, maybe Anacharis, guppy grass, or water...

Aww I’m sorry 🥺would you like me to draw your fish specifically for you if you have a picture?

    Fish drawings!!

Possibly a small sketch, but I generally only do dog drawings as paid commissions. Even though the fish are detailed, they don’t take nearly as much work compared to furry creatures. Especially dogs, their eyes and tiny little fur details are extremely time intensive.

Remember, do it how it feels best for you!! If you like doing outlines, stick with that. I use outlines for all my traditional commissions :) I only started the first strokes thing with the digital ones a few months ago

    Fish drawings!!

These two show the difference in steps- the looser, more painterly ones start out like the algae eater and lionfish, while the more detailed once start controlled, as in the axolotl. There’s more blending in the second option, whereas the first one is left with visible brushstrokes

@Fishmanic Hmm.. well this lion fish had way more steps than the others, so I probably should have spilt it into multiple grids. 😅Here’s the reference again: here is the start: Here’s about halfway through: the grid with all of the steps: and the final product:
