    Dying Fish!

Even in a cycled tank, once you add new fish, especially if you add several at one time, you can set off a mini-cycle because of the increased bio-load. The only preventative to this is to do a small water change within a day or two and watch your parameters carefully. Neons are very sensitive...

    Green Terror

You've got to love the personality of these fish! I have one that flares at anyone and everyone that walks near his tank. He's pretty awesome to watch. And others like to 'dance' at the front of the tank almost like they are begging for attention or food. I love GT's. Almost makes me wish I was...

    Ok With My Green Terror?

what size tank is it? You also want to be cautious about keeping your GT with anything that he may percieve as a meal or a threat. Depending on what size tank he's in, I'd be happy to tell you those that I've had success with thus far.

Im Hearing Alot Of Talk On "rams"

rams are dwarf south american cichlids that can do well in some community setups. You get the cichlid attitude in a much smaller package than most of the cichlids from SA. They tend to do well in at least pairs with some caves to hide in.

He's about 6" now. Well, thats a bummer. But its ok. He's already such a character I'm very happy to have him as a part of the family.

They were previously classified as Veija but changed that classification around a year or so ago. Several of the species in the Veija genus were changed to excichlasoma.

    Howdy, Its Been A While

He's black with gold stripes. Now, whether these will change as he gets bigger or not, I have no idea. He's my first Tiger O. I've had a red in the past and currently have the Lutino pictured above. I'm really hoping they'll stay the shiney gold that they are now!

    Howdy, Its Been A While

Currently I have 3 55g's, 3- 30g. 1- 35g hex, 1 20g long, 6 1g betta tanks and a 2.5g hex for another betta. I've been keeping fish for about 4 years now and have had various ones along the way. Depending on how much tax refund we get this year, I'm hoping to get a 180, if I can find one I don't...

    Howdy, Its Been A While

I figured since its been ages since I posted here that I would start off by showing off my new baby. I think he's gorgeous, all 2" of him! His name is Ulysses And just for the record, yes, I know how big O's get. I also have a 14-15" Lutino right now. And many other cichlids. Here's a pic...

    Worried About My Oscar

Oscars can be very tempermental beings. Mine will pout for 3 or 4 days after a water change or if I rearrange any tank decor. SOme Oscars also are just like that. They get lazy and just want to lay around. I wouldn't worry over it just yet.

Moving tips!!!! For a whole LOTTA fish!

Hi, I'm moving on the 14th and wondered if anyone has some hepful tips, advice, ect that you could share with me. I have 15 tanks with everything from fry to a 12" arowana. The move is about 30 miles from here and I need to have them in something that they will be ok in for as long as 24...

Now that they are free swimming......

I started out many months ago with 6 dime sized angels in a 30 US gallon Tall and added one that I already had to the tank and let them grow. I also put some live plants in including a live amazon sword. The one I added paired up with one of the babies I raised and once they laid eggs the first...

Now that they are free swimming......

Well, I finally have hundreds of little free swimming angels and I'm so happy about it! I don't have an extra air pump to set up a baby brine shrimp hatchery right now, so I fed them a little frozen bbs and then later fed them some Hikari's First Bites. I watched and they seemed to be eating it...

    Another "Can I Have......

I really think it would depend on how big they are when you get them. I have 4 neons cohabitating peacefully with 1 nearly full grown angel and 3 smaller ones in a 30 tall. If the fish is small enough for them to get in there mouth, the angels will probably try to eat them. Otherwise, they...

    Fry question

Are there no other LFS's in your area? I would call around and ask other places. I lucked out and one of the places I shop at has agreed to take some of my baby green terrors and possibly some of my baby angels. He's going to give me store credit for them which works great for me! The only...

    How do you measure?

Being a crazy american myself, I always mean US gallons. I didn't even know there was an Imperial gallon. I thought that countries using the metric system would have liters. Thanks for teaching me something new!

    Got another tank

We were shopping around in some resale furniture stores this week and literally stumbled on the deal of the year~! Its a 30g Hex tank with an oak stand for $50 USD!!!! I've been looking online for a hood & light for it, and the prices for just the tank are around $180! Once I get the equipment...

    Black Angels

I have read the same info and have to agree 100%. Black angels are alot harder to keep, let alone be able to get to a size that can breed. I've had 2. One lived for about 8 months, but never did get as big as the others I had purchased at the same time and size. I now have another one that I...

Does this look like breeding behaviour???

It looks and sounds like they might be. My Green Terror pair have been kind of fighting here lately so I think they are about to spawn again. They have their first batch of fry still in the tank with them. My first sign that something was going on was when they started attacking everything else...

    Black Angels

With angels, the rule of thumb I've been told to follow is 1 angel per 10g.

    Just some random pictures.

Well, I'm in Waco, so I would definately be willing to meet yall on the road to get some of those brichardi! Daffodill or not, either way. And hey what you sell me can give you some gas money for the rest of your trip! (See how well we could work that out?) :D

    Cuervo & Pliskin

Thanks! He is quite majestic looking gliding and undulating across the top of the tank!

    A few questions about Firemouths.

Ya know, when I want to try dithers in my tanks I start out cheap. Buy a couple of feeder goldfish (they cost me .12 each) and see how it goes. If they are successful then you could go with a more expensive fish for a dither. Just my opinion!

    Oscar companions?

One thing to remember with Oscars, they grow on average 1" per month. So your little babies will get big very quickly, bearing that in mind, if a tankmate is small enough to fit in the Oscar's mouth, it looks like dinner to him. So, if the potential tank mates will be big enough not to look...

    green severum

Both Severums and angels are common here. I can find the Green or Turquoise Sev's everyday. Whats rare is finding a gold or red Sev. Now thats what I wouldn't mind coming across. But if you were wanting to keep one in a 15g, thats definately way to small. You could maybe get away with a 30g for...

    Good Idea or Bad Idea?

They are in a 55g. I'm going to be getting my 125 within the next week or two and once its up and cycled, I know my set ups are going to change drastically. Still haven't decided exactly who I'll be moving in there yet except for sure my silver arowana and my Green Terror. (I can't split up...

    Cuervo & Pliskin

Hi, yes, they share the same tank with a Blackbelt, Severum and Firemouth. As far as the Arowana goes, they get along fine. The squabbles are between the blackbelt, sev and firemouth since they are all the same size, they are always fighting for their position in the pecking order. I feed him...

    severums

He is definately correct in that an Oscar can NOT live in a 15g tank for 6 months. He can't live in there for even 3 months. Oscars grow at a rate of at least 1" per month until they hit around 10" and then the growth slows. Its a recipe for disaster your setting up here. Please talk your friend...

    Good Idea or Bad Idea?

Personally, from my experience with 2 different Texas cichlids, would NOT put a Texas with an Oscar. They might be ok for a while, but eventually they will get hurt. Both Texas' I've had were total psychos at one point or another. My male is now kept in check by my Jaguar. The female was...

    I have Green Terror Fry!!!

Well, the 10 is up and running right now. I could do a water cahnge and use some of the 20g water to fill it back up. Re the egg yolk. I haven't ever read that feeding egg yolk would increase how often they lay eggs. I was asking if you know anything about feeding it to the fry. I've read that...

    Um....betta almost down....

I hate when they give ya the double whammy. I'm treating for ick in my 30g planted angelfish/tropical tank. And now I'm seeing signs of fin rot on my angels. The ick is on all my tetras (Black, Neons, and lost my last bleeding heart to it just after the first treatment) The Angels didn't have...

    Green Terror Fry!!!!

Plans for the fry....... I'm going to try to sell some to one or more of the lfs, maybe trade for store credit to get food and what not. If not, then I have a few friends that want some and the rest will be grown just big enough to be feeders. I have 5 tanks with cichlids (mostly very BIG...

    unknown fish

Well, thats what I've thought too ever since I saw the first blurry blob picture of him. I can't explain why he has that solid band of green across his throat. My best guess is he has some other kind of cichlid in him, but he definately still looks like a JD to me. With the body shape, markings...
