yeah a 5 gallon aqarium is all the betta needs

if u wanna keep a betta in a community aquaruim i would put them with amano shrimp or maybe neon tetras but the tank would have to be a decent size and it just needs to be with fish that wont nip the bettas fins like tiger barbs would not be the best choice ;)

oops did not read the part about the mountain minnows do not put a betta in with them they have very different tank temps

cory cats and tetras are pretty good fish too put with danios. And sometimes a betta may work but u would have to be careful because those danios are very big fin nippers and its hard to resist with those long flowing fins:D:cool: :music:

I had a 10 gal tank with 2 glass catfish and a betta for a long time it worked out really well but i would go for a larger tank if u could nobody wants to buy an aquarium and get only 1 fisho_O

yeah whats the the point of buying such a large tank and getting only 1 fish

bettas are great centerpieces for community tanks. i would go with a 10 gal and then get a few glass catfish or tetras. and if u had enough hiding places u could probably put maybe an amano shrimp:fish::fish::fish:

another way to raise ammonia is to stock the tank with comets

yes i agree with sarahp a 2 gallon tank is way to small for just 1 betta. i would upgrade to a 5 gal

Angelfish and discus are extremely attractive fish so i would suggest putting some of them in there.:)
