Rid-all General aid... is it good?

I just got some of the Rid all's general aid to help with, what might possibly be a bit of fungus, however I'm curious if it's a good or even safe product. I have some shrimps and snails in the tank and my dosing will be lower than recommended, although I am a tad worried if it is safe for my...

Sorry, that was a mistake. I dont have the Nitrate readings, only the ammonia and nitrites, both of which are 0. My mistake, haha! Yes, I fill definately follow your advice and get some anti-fungal medicine tomorrow, and feed the poor thing a bit more. I really, really hope he will turn out...

    Bronze corydora, strange white swelling/dimple

Sure. Ph: 7.8 (stable) Gh: 5 ish Kh: 4.5 Tds: 150 Temp: 74-77 in extreme case fluctuations. it is usually stable at 75 Ammonia, Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0.3 ish. It's a guess, since my meter doesn't quite change color rapidly enough for a perfect reading (it's a too low reading)

    Bronze corydora, strange white swelling/dimple

I noticed my Bronze corydora male had a strange white dimple on its rear dorsal fin, which doesnt seem to be healing. it has been about a day since I added a general health medicine (minutes after I noticed it) but I am a bit worried. any info would be helpful.

    Red spot on neon tetra

I googled it, though I doubt it's the worms cos it's more on the left side and not on the anal area at all. also, it started to recede now, luckily. if it's worth mentioning, I had a backswimmer insect in the tank at the time

    Water hardness

Yeah, prices in south africa are screwed up. To the rest of you guys' replies, thanks, it made sense. I usedbto have mollies with my tapwater back when I lived somewhere else, about a 2 hour's drive away from here. I will try to get a few readings from our municipality.

    Water hardness

So, I got a tds of 110 (tap water) around here which is too soft for swordtails or mollies. atleast, to my understanding. is there something I can add to the water to increase the hardness? No, I don't know the parameters cos the kit is $500 around here. I will not spend that much on a...

    Snail questions

so, I like snails in my aqyatium and I jave now counted 4 different species. pons snails, bladder snails, ramshorn snails and malaysian trumpets. I am happy with the ramshorns and the mts snails, but what are the differences in pond snails and bladder snails' diets and adult sizes?

    Red spot on neon tetra

I just noticed this red spot on my neon tetra. sorry for the bad angle, but its the best I could do as i had to move the fish to a small tank to get the picture. what is that spot? and how do I treat it? I do not know my water paramaters and I am not willing to pay 500 dollars for a test kit...

    Swordtail compatability

Thanks for reminding me :) Will just standard household 4700k 20w and 6500k 20w tubes work if I use one of each? Those are the only ones I can find online... Not sure what the shops are carrying as it's 2:50 am here, but in general thats the light rig I want to try to go for...

    Swordtail compatability

I'll keep an eye out for them! And I find this part of the conversation the most interesting as I grow carnivorous in a seperate terrarium just above the fish tank under a custom-made LED light driving 6500k, 4500k, and a few other LEDs. When I added the 4500k and the 6500 (or was it 6700k?)...

    Swordtail compatability

oooohhhhh, Ok, that makes sense O_O Will 2x20 watt t8, 2 foot aquarium lights be considered "too bright" for the fish? I want to grow plants in my tank and if I dim the lights, I'm afraid it will let the plants die (So far I just Have hornwort though I'm letting them sit on the ground for now...

    Tannins from.... Sphagnum peat?

as far as I' have seen it's nearly impossible for me to get the blackwater addatives, and other than that I am unsure which leaves are safe to add to my tank. are any leaves safe? or just certain ones?

    Swordtail compatability

I'm also thinking of adding more wood. I just did a bit of research on the swimming regions of the fish you recommended and they all seem to be mid-bottom swimmers naturally.

    Swordtail compatability

Your tank looks amazing! I have to wait for my swords and java ferns grow a bit larger before I can actually do a more desirable aquascape... I could probably fill my tank a bit more too now that I think of it, but I'm just afraid the glass may crack... I'm a bit paranoid.

    Tannins from.... Sphagnum peat?

Is it possible to somehow extract tannins from sphagnum peat? I want to get some darkwater in my tank but over here it's impossible to get the stuff needed without importing it. The only readily available thing I have over here is sphagnum peat I use for my carnivorous plants and very often...

    Swordtail compatability

Here is my tank. Its a bit dirty, I just did a sand vac and changed some of the decor around. the plants are java ferns, hornworts and 2 amazon swords. Also, the camera is a bit... screwy, but there really is almost no tannins in my tank despite it looking like there is O_O

Whoops, yeah, my tank is a 3 foot, I made a mistake there O_O As for the tetras, I will now limit my choices to only the ones you suggested :) And yeah, I also started to consider adding a few more neons. it would definately bring them out more atleast. as for my corydoras... idk, there is a lot...
