    Angelfish with lump on stomach

Sorry for late reply, how is your beautiful angel doing? Did the swelling go down? I have seen prolapse before, but not sure this is it. It looks related to the vent to me.

    Floating plants

Not special, but it does enjoy high lighting, especially if using to wrap around driftwood @Cromid. I had it wrapping around driftwood in my 46g at one point, it did well as long as it wasn't shaded. It grows much faster for me floating though. The most trouble it causes is pruning out any bare...

    Is this... algae?

Cyano can be blue, green, black and even red. So you didn't even add anything live from the store yet? Goes to show it doesn't have to be introduced.... I have battled cyano on occasion in different tanks. It likes to persist in my 120g right now, but I used to have it in my 90g and I haven't...

    Floating plants

I didn't see the pic of your tank, but there's a floating plant I love to use that often gets forgotten. It's Brazilian pennywort. I usually tie it with fishing line to stay along the front or back so it doesn't block light, but I keep it floating and it makes a nice canopy quickly. It grows...

Pls help my guppies are dying

This is just a safe parasite control you could try if you feel like it. It is effective against Hexamita. Take a solution of 3/4tsp Epsom Salts (without additives) dissolved in 1/2cup water in a pipette. Drop enough solution to just moisten a layer of pellet food on the bottom of a small shot...

Pls help my guppies are dying

I'm only piping in to say I noticed some weird bulges in the upper abdomen of the surviving fish so you are on the right path with internal parasites given the white poop. It gets so difficult trying to diagnose because white poop usually means internal parasite, but also could be infection or...

Can you help identify this cichlid?

Not sure what to say, but I wouldn't get a second geo. They are schooling cichlids like angels and discus and create a hierarchy. With only two individuals, one will almost always outcompete the other. 3 is a bad number for any cichlid bc if a pair forms, the odd one out is tormented. With 4...

Balloon Molly Sitting on the Bottom of a Cycled Tank PLZ HELP

If you want to tell the difference between 40 and 80ppm nitrates, just put in half the drops of regant. If it's still red, you have closer to 80ppm, if it turns orange, you have 40ppm. If your tap doesn't contain nitrates, a water change will bring those levels down. Ex a 50% WC will lower...

    Background Input...

That is interesting about the anacharis elodia densa. That's the stuff I used to grow. But now that you mention it, it started to die off and now has completely melted at temps of 80°f. That's what happened to it! And your right, it was much finer than other types of anacharis. I'm going to...

What fish can live in 4 pH and lower?

I would water change the minerals back and dilute the leaf compounds, but when I want a higher KH (alkalinity), I keep a DIY pantyhose bag of crushed coral in the filter. I don't have to use very much to keep pH at 7.4 (KH 4), only 1/2 tablespoon per 30 gallons. I don't like to let the pH go...

    Columnaris Wiping Out Tank...Help!

There is a synergistic effect between Furan2 and Kanamycin. They need to be used simultaneously for Columnaris treatment. There are at least 4 strains of columnaris, each with a different degree of deadliness. Some will take out a tank in 24hrs, others will persist for months especially if...

    Top 5 fish you've kept???

    1) My angels got to be boss 2) Bristlenose plecos bc I have so many! 3) Tetras (red or black phantom, lemon, flame, columbian, candycane and even african congo) 4) Kribensis 5) Bamboo shrimp (I love the way they perch themselves in the current and spread their 'net paws". It's like they...

@Deanasue I forgot to ask, should I avoid the eyes with the mblue swab? Like only swab the hole in the abdomen? The other pits are very close to the eyes. I think I saw you can dap PP for popeye, but not sure about mblue. Btw, no popeye for my tank, only the pits and holes. (Which is not 'only'...

    My discus not eating...

You could try soaking his food in some garlic juice. This is appetite enhancer. Also there's a product called 'garlic guard' with vitamin C which is the first vitamin to be washed away from prepared foods. So helpful to get them interested in food and also good for vitamins. I also like to...

    Questionable Corydoras Lump

Sounds like what i'm dealing with: aeromonas bacteria. Good news is that kana and furan is a good treatment for it. I personally can't get antibiotics, so i'm using methylene blue and salt. I've also been advised to start daily 75% water changes. Good luck! I felt my fish were goners as...

Thank you :) I ordered some more Kordon mblue (found one so I snatched it) to change more water out. Regrettably I forgot to order salt. Also i'll keep feeding the Epsom Salt solution and the vitamins against Hexamita. It's also helpful to soak the food 5 minutes prior to feeding to...

I suspected HITH as well, so I soaked food in an epsom salt solution for 5 days, no improvement. I lost the blushing platinum since the feeding. I have Metro plus, but it's probably expired. Btw, can HITH/Hex cause holes in the abdomen? When I saw the hole there, I suspected aeromonas bacteria...

    White spots on pleco gills

I circled the cheek spikes on my pleco to show you what I mean They have a spine there that flips up when they are being aggressive or as a defense mechanism to prevent being swallowed. Those little spine spikes spread out like a claw at the cheek area. That's what your pleco was doing in your...

No worries ;) I am feeding NorthFin cichlid pellets, NLS pellets (different types) and Omega One. I've started soaking their food in Vitamins (Vitachem). Thank you for your response. 1) This is a bare-bottom quarentine tank. 2) I do have a light, the water is blue because of the mblue. I removed the lucky bamboo plants and giant duckweed temporarily while I use salt and mblue. 3) Water level is low bc I don't have a lot of mblue left and it...

    White spots on pleco gills

Well it should be sodium chloride without any fillers or preservatives, so I would say 100% sea salt is ok. I use the aquarium salt by API but that's because it's on hand. You can also use kosher sea salt, so that should be fine
